Chapter 69
I’d never felt this calm in my entire life. It was almost strange how detached I was from all of these people. They were completely absorbed in each other, so unaware, so blissfully oblivious.
They didn’t even sense. Even their wolves were engrossed in this aggressive lovemaking. I focused the camera, zoomed in. I made sure to capture the arch of Mia’s back, the curve of her lips.
It was a pretty good shot. There’s no way she’ll get out of this one. I had solid evidence to prove her infidelity.
As they clawed at each other, moaning and screaming, I heard Mia scream his name. “John.” And then he groaned. The music was still on, but his moan was so loud that I didn’t need Lucky’s help to hear it. My eyes drifted to the screens, displaying different parts of the building. Everyone else was none the wiser of what was happening here.
John finally collapsed on top of Mia, sweaty and smug, completely unaware that I’d just captured everything. I stopped the video. I had all I needed. Then I switched to voice memo. I was determined to get every bit of information without Mia knowing.
I tucked the phone into my bag, zipped it halfway and straightened up. Then I started clapping. I slapped my palms together, making it as loud as possible. I applauded the award winning show they just put on for
- me.
Mia’s head finally whipped toward me, and her eyes found mine. I smirked. I thought her expression yesterday was memorable… this one was gold.

She turned so pale that I could see the blood flowing through her skin. For half a second, she didn’t move. She just blinked at me as if I wasn’t really there.
And then as if something finally clicked in her mind, she began scrambling for her clothes, dragging a silk top around herself. Papers slipped off the desk and scattered to the floor. Her hands were shaking so badly she could barely button her blouse.
John followed suit, pulling his pants up. I recognized the embroidery on it. He worked here, in charge of surveillance. How convenient. He finally reached behind him and shut off the music.
I rolled my eyes. That was the least of their problems.
I slipped one hand into my pocket as Mia stumbled forward, one heel still off, blouse buttoned crookedly. “It… it… it’s not what you think,” she stammered, chest heaving.
I tilted my head. “I haven’t said anything, Mia. What do you think is going through my head?” Her eyes widened, mouth hanging open. My eyes drifted to John, hanging back behind her, staring down at his feet. This was too good. “Well, if you want to explain yourself so badly… then by all means, Mia, tell me what I just watched.” I leaned forward, my breath brushing her face. “Enlighten me.”
She swallowed hard, mouth opening and closing like a fish. Her eyes were wide and pleading. She had the nerve to look hurt. Like she was the victim.
“It’s Xander’s fault. He hasn’t had time for me since you left. I needed… Well, I needed attention, a man’s touch… sex. Xander wasn’t giving it to me anymore.”
I chewed the inside of my cheek and nodded carefully, making her

think I was considering her words. “You needed sex?” Her eyes lit up and she bobbed her head enthusiastically. “I see. So, you climbed onto a desk in the company surveillance room and screamed John’s name like he’s your fated mate?”
Her eyes fell, lips trembling. “You don’t know what it’s been like for me. Xander barely touches me anymore.”
I waved my hand dismissively. I couldn’t care less about her sob story. “Is that baby really Xander’s?”
“Yes,” she answered immediately, eyes darting toward John so fast I almost missed it. Her eyes met mine, glowing with rage. “Of course it is. I’m carrying the Alpha’s heir.”
“Mia!” John finally spoke. I heard her heart racing, the scent of fear and anxiety clouding her. I shifted my gaze to John who was looking at Mia like she’d just betrayed him. I wonder why that is.
“Really?” he said, eyes still locked on Mia. “You told me… months ago… that you only ever slept with Alpha Xander to climb the ranks. That was the deal. That’s how you got everything. And I was supposed to wait for you.”
Mia’s head snapped toward him. “John, shut up…”
