Chapter 67
“Well, I’ve always been good with my hands.”
He let out a choked sound. “Jesus. I was not ready for that.”
I shrugged. “Well, you should get ready. There’ll be a lot of stripping when I get back.” Lucky could hear his mouth drop open. I loved knowing the effect I had on him. I was certain that it was unlike anything either of us had felt before.
“Okay, okay,” he began, clearing his throat. “Back to work, troublemaker. You’ve got to finish that resume. Fast.
“Why? You haven’t told me why you want it.”
“Because… It’s a surprise. And you’re going to like it. That’s all I’m giving you.”
I narrowed my eyes. “You’re being secretive.”
“I’m being generous. Now finish that resume. I’ll talk to you soon. Bye.”
I rolled my eyes, but turned on my computer again. “Bye,” I said, before hanging up. Lucky hummed inside me. Something about her… about us was different. I could feel my wolf, stronger than ever.
Fueled with a sudden surge of confidence, I finished up my resume then sent it to Aaron. I stood, stretched and continued to move through the house. My wolf senses have been sharp lately. My hearing, healing, energy and even my spirit.

The status of my relationship with Aaron and the self–defense training was definitely a boost.

My gaze drifted to the security camera by the far end of the wall. And it hit me. Evidence.
I rushed to the guard house to find Grant standing just outside. “Luna Jane,” he greeted me.
“I need to see some of the old security footage. Just need to check something.”
He scratched his neck, glancing toward the control room. “Thing is… you’re not gonna find much.”
I crossed my arms.
“Well… Luna Amelia came by last week…”
Oh no. I already knew what he was about to say.
“She took all the hard drives.”

“She took all the hard drives.”
I couldn’t believe what I’d just heard. “She did what?”

Grant shifted uncomfortably. I could sense his wolf cowering under my intense gaze. I had to calm Lucky. This wasn’t Grant’s fault.
He scratched his neck again before answering. “She said she needed to

secure the hard drives.”
Secure them? There must be a truckload of evidence if she was trying to bury it. But from the way Grant kept shifting his feet told me there was more he wasn’t telling me. “What is it?”
“Luna Amelia also instructed that all CCTV cameras be turned off until further notice.”
Lucky growled, I couldn’t stop her anymore. This was outrageous. How dare Amelia? “Amelia is not in charge here. I am.” His gaze dropped to the ground. “Did she mention where she was taking them to?”
He shook his head. “No.”
Of course. So much for wanting peace. I knew Amelia was up to no good. She was always one step ahead, setting wicked plans in motion. And now, she’d gotten rid of every bit of evidence.
“Did you notice anything strange when she came? Any unusual behavior?” I asked, trying to get into his head.
Again, he shook his head. “Not really.” Then he looked up at me, eyes lighting up. “She seemed to be in a hurry. The moment I handed the hard drive to her, she bolted out.”
That told me all I needed to know. Amelia was trying to bury something. “And you’re sure the hard drives left this building? She didn’t hide it somewhere in the house?”
“Positive. I handed her them over as she instructed. I watched her run back to her car and drive out of the building. She didn’t spend another second here. I’m sorry.”

I offered him a strained smile. It wasn’t his fault. But what could this all mean? What would she do with them anyway? Maybe she’d destroy them or probably just store the hard drives away until this was all over. However, I was certain she was protecting someone… most likely Xander.
“If she ever returns, you let me know immediately. In fact, if anyone, including Xander even tries to go past the gate, I want to know. No one comes in without my permission. Got it?” He nodded. “Good. Now turn the camera’s back on.”
I waited for Grant to move to get it done before walking slowly behind him. I looked around the large house that was now mine. No one was going to take this from me. And if Amelia wants a war, she can go ahead and start it. I’ll just be the one to finish it.
