Chapter 54
“Finally!” he groaned. “This one’s been pacing like a lunatic. I thought he was going to have a full blown heart attack. I told him, ‘get used to it, women are always late.“”
I rolled my eyes. George was such a drama queen. “We’re not,” I protested, shooting him a playful glare.
But I couldn’t hold the frown for much longer. It soon morphed into a smile, and then a laugh slipped out. I shook my head as I slid into the seat next to Aaron, so I could feel the heat of his body seeping into mine.
Aaron’s hands quickly slipped into my lap. “What took you so long?”
I shrugged and grabbed his chin. I pulled his face to mine and whispered, “Tell your grandfather I’m never late.”
His light blue eyes locked with mine locked with mine, darkening into a stormy color. His gaze dropped to my lips, for a beat. Then his mouth curved into a slow, wicked smirk.
“You’re never late,” he said against my lips in that husky, delicious voice of his. “You’ve only ever been behind by a minute at most.”
George let out a loud groan that made me laugh. “I hate both of you,” he muttered, shielding his face with one hand. “This is sexual
harassment. In my own home.”
Aaron raised a hand. “Correction. My home.”

George gasped dramatically. “I brought you into this world.”
“You raised the man who did.”
“Tomato Tomahto.”
We finally started dinner after the two of them stopped bickering. Aaron served me a huge portion of what looked like a colorful masterpiece of perfectly seasoned rice, glazed chicken in aromatic sauce that made my mouth water before my fork even touched it.

“It’a arroz con pollo,” Aaron said, setting it in front of me. “I wanted to make something traditional.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Traditional to whom?”
“Traditional to the Lorenz pack. It’s comfort food… I’m sure you need it after Becca almost murdered you.”
Before I could retort and tell him that I was still very much alive, George leaned forward, waving his fork at me. “Did he tell you he once won a cooking contest wearing a dress and a wig?”
I gasped and snapped my head toward Aaron. “He definitely didn’t tell me that.”
“Ugh…” Aaron groaned, already shaking his head. “Don’t listen to him.
“Oh no,” I said, turning back to George. “I’m listening. Please, go on.”
George grinned, absolutely delighted in the fact that he got to tell this story. “He was thirteen, his sister was sick. She couldn’t go to the contest, but she’d already signed up. So what did he do? He dresses up like her, wears the same pink dress and a blonde wig, enters the contest and actually wins.”

Aaron buried his face in his hands. “It was for charity.”
George guffawed. “He took home a trophy and made me eat that damn casserole for a week.”
I laughed so hard, I nearly dropped my fork. “Please tell me you have a picture of this.”
“There is.” Geroge took a sip of his wine before he continued. “I’m saving it for the wedding slideshow.”
Dinner continued, and George took every opportunity he got to tell an embarrassing story about Aaron. It was the perfect night, just like I’d predicted.
George suddenly pulled out his phone with a grin. “Hold still.” He wheeled himself on Aaron’s left side and aimed the camera at us.
Aaron and I exchanged a quick glance, then he wrapped an arm around my shoulder, pulling me close. I leaned into him, fixing a bright smile on my face.
The flash went off.
I instinctively turned my head and pressed a kiss to Aaron’s mouth. His body responded to mine instantly. I was dizzy from the intensity and force of his kiss. I never wanted this feeling to go away.
When we finally pulled apart, I remained close to him, letting my forehead fall gently against his. His eyes found mine, and it felt like it was just the both of us, sitting at the dining table.
“Mierda! (Fuck!)” George suddenly yelled, shattering the moment.
We both blinked and turned to look at him. He had the ugliest scowl I’d

ever seen as he stared down at his phone.
“Malditos sean estos malditos idiotas, (Damn these fucking idiots)” he kept going.
I had no idea what George was saying. Aaron obviously did because his frown deepened. “What’s going on?” he asked.
