Dad was cut off by the sound of footsteps approaching.
I followed Sebastian’s insufferable smirk to see Jane approaching. She slipped an arm around my waist and stood beside me.
Sebastian glanced at me, before turning all his attention to my wife. “I‘ m just here to offer my congratulations to the happy couple.”
Bullshit. I could smell the lie in his words.
Before I could even blink, Sebastian stepped past both Dad and me, and reached for Jane. Time seemed to slow as I watched him lift her delicate fingers to his lips to press a kiss to the back of her hand.
I saw red. My blood turned to fire. My body began to tremble as all the red liquid beneath my flesh boiled in agitation.
I’m going to kill him. I’m going to rip his heart out of his chest, Fen growled.
I agreed with Fen. My eyes were dark with rage, and all I wanted to do was spill some blood.

I didn’t protest, I just let Fen…

Just as Jane screamed, I heard the distinct sound of cloth ripping. I looked down to see a small tear at the side of my jacket. I’d almost let Fen take over. The telltale signs were there. My claws were extended, fur already coating my skin. All that was left was for me to be on all fours and I would have sunk my teeth into Sebastian’s throat.
“What the hell are you doing?” Jane yelled again. She wrapped her hands around my arm, pulling me closer to her.
I sighed and squeezed my eyes shut. I needed to calm down. I’d been so caught up in my own anger that I was mere seconds away from ripping Sebastian to shreds right outside the church.
With everything I had, I managed to pull myself back from the edge. But Fen was still growling, still yelling threats at Sebastian.
And the fool didn’t take the hint. He was still smiling, taunting me with that annoying curve of his lips.

Then his gaze dropped lower, settling on Jane’s midsection. Any progress I made vanished as he studied Jane with a knowing expression.
“Such a beautiful bride. And such… interesting timing for a wedding.”

Somehow, she managed to drag me out of there and into the car, leaving my dad to handle Sebastian. The tension didn’t disappear even as we both settled into the passenger seats.
This was my wedding day for God’s sake. We were heading to the reception to wine, dine, and dance all bloody night. But celebrating was the last thing on my mind.

I barely heard her through the sound of Fen growling. Still, I turned to look at her. She was staring at me with frightened eyes, and it made my heart twist painfully. She deserved answers. But I couldn’t talk about it yet.
“I’ll tell you later.” If I recounted every single thing that had transpired between me and Sebastian, I might lose it. One wrong memory of him and Fen would be out and clawing at the car seats.

I watched her flinch away from me, pressing herself further against the car door.
A deafening silence followed. The only thing I could hear was the hum of the engine, Jane’s heart pounding, and Fen growling. I wanted to pull her close and tell her everything she wanted to know, but I couldn‘ t. Not now.
“Are you excited to reveal the gender of our pup to everyone tonight?” Jane finally spoke. It was obvious she was trying to lighten things up, but I wasn’t in the mood.

I managed a curt nod. I feared that if I spoke, it would come out as a growl or a snarl. I didn’t want to hurt her more than I already had.
However, it had the opposite effect as Jane’s face fell. She turned away from me and pressed her forehead against the window. “Okay,” she mumbled.
