Chapter 132
“That’s my boy! Aaron here used to be quite the little escape artist. He would jump out of his room, climb onto the oak tree inches from his window, and just…disappear into the night.
”
Jane turned to look at me. “Really? I had no idea.”
“Ha! The moment this one’s wolf came alive, he was uncontrollable. It’s
a wonder he’s such a gentleman today. Especially after that one incident.”
“Dad,” I groaned. “You don’t have to tell every story.”
He grinned. “Oh, but I do.” He turned back to Jane. “One night, when Aaron was just twelve years old, he wanted to go for a joy ride and decided to shift. But then, the window got stuck, and when he returned and shifted back to human form, Aaron realized he’d gotten himself stuck on the roof.”
Jane couldn’t hold the laughter back. Even when I shot her a pleading look. She doubled over, holding her stomach.
My gaze drifted to Grandpa, who was still eating his dinner quietly. Usually, he would be the one person torturing me by revealing all my embarrassing moments. For a second, I worried if he was okay, but a moment later, I ate my words.
“Jane,” he suddenly called, placing his fork down. “When are you going to tell everyone about the pup you’re having?”
You could have heard a pin drop. Even my wolf went eerily silent. Six

pairs of eyes stared at us, waiting for a response. I had no idea what to say or how to handle the situation.
I could feel Jane fidgeting beside me. She opened her mouth, but closed it without releasing a single sound.
“Yes, I’m pregnant,” she finally admitted.
The words had barely left her mouth before there was a loud ‘hoot‘ from one of them. My mother was the first to jump to her feet, and she rushed to Jane and pulled her into a warm hug. My father reached over from the head of the table and patted my back.
“Congratulations, son. I’m so happy for you,” he said.
My mother was still exclaiming in excitement as she left Jane and returned to her seat. Even as Cathe, Bonnie, and Diana offered their congratulations, my mother was still making plans. She spoke so fast that I barely heard a word she said.
Jane turned to me, looking concerned. “Is this how it usually is?”
I smirked and shrugged my shoulders. “Welcome to the family.”
The moment between Jane and me lasted only a second, because apparently, my mother now considered herself to be a maternal investigator.
“When exactly is the due date? What’s the gender? Have you had morning sickness? Are you eating enough protein? You need to be eating more red meat; it’s important for the pup’s development.”
I expected Jane to crawl into her shell, but she smiled at my mother.
“Fifteen weeks away. And we don’t know the gender yet.”

My mother took Jane’s response as an invitation to ask more questions, and soon a casual family dinner turned to a full–on gynecologist visit.
By the time we finally left the house, after what felt like a hundred more hugs and conversations, Jane was practically swaying on her feet. She slept through the entire drive to our hotel. I even had to carry her up to the suite, which was already arranged for us.
Jane finally opened her eyes when I set her down on the bed. She immediately kicked off her shoes.
“Your family is perfect. Absolutely, completely perfect.”
“I’m sure you won’t think they’re so great once we start wedding preparations.” I chuckled.
Jane’s eyes widened in fear. “Oh no. Your mother is going to have a field day with the preparations.”
“At least I warned you. We’re going to have a hell of a crowd. Even my distant cousins won’t be able to stay away.

“Oh, I’m going to run the other way the moment I see them.”
I laughed and climbed into the bed next to her, pulling her close. I stroked her hair when she rested her head on my chest. Lord, this woman made me so damn happy.
“I think I experienced something different tonight,” Jane mumbled. “It’s just nothing I’ve ever seen before. Your family is loud, crazy, but so… real. It’s amazing.”
“It’s obvious they fell in love with you. How could they not?” I kissed her cheek. “You’re stuck with us now.”

Jane chuckled softly against my chest. “Good.” And then she drifted off
to sleep.
