Chapter 126
His eyes were filled with affection as he watched me devour the last of the surf and turf. The waiter returned, this time bringing chocolate mousse with him. My mouth began to water when he dropped the plate in front of me.
I took one spoonful and groaned.
“This is incredible.” I was already reaching for another bite.
At my third bite, my stomach clenched violently, and a wave of nausea hit me. The rich chocolate that had tasted like heaven now felt like charcoal in my mouth.
“Oh no,” I managed to say, one hand flying to my mouth, the other gripping the table. “Oh no, no, no…”
I barely made it out of my chair before I threw up spectacularly all over the sand. When it was finally over, I straightened up slowly, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand.
Aaron was standing beside me now, one hand on my back. I expected to see horror or disgust on his face. Instead, he was laughing. And it wasn’t just a simple chuckle. It was a full–on tears–in–his–eyes laughter.
“Aaron, this isn’t funny,” I cried.
“Are you kidding? This is the most memorable proposal dinner ever.”
I started to laugh too. I couldn’t help myself. It was absolutely hilarious.
He took my left hand and squeezed gently. “I’m the luckiest man in the

world. And I’ll always count myself lucky. No matter what.”
He helped me into my seat before returning to his.
“I wish this moment could last forever. But I have work on Monday,” I said.
“What if it could?” I tilted my head, waiting for him to explain. “We can stay here. I mean, you don’t need to work. I can take care of you.”
I nearly choked on my own saliva.
“Are you suggesting I become a stay–at–home mom?”
“I’m just saying you have options. We could have ten kids, fifteen, anything you want.‘
I gathered some chocolate mousse into my spoon and launched it at him.
“Ten kids?” I laughed, watching him swipe at his eyebrows.
“Why not? We’d have the most beautiful family.”
I laughed again, but this time, it wasn’t so genuine. There was an overwhelming amount of happiness in my heart. So much that I began to wonder if this would last forever, or if it would crumble just like it had in the past. Lucky whined softly, sensing the shift in my mood.
“Jane? What’s wrong?” Aaron asked, his expression turning serious as he studied me.
I forced a smile in an attempt to shake it off. “Nothing. Just thinking about tomorrow, I guess.”

But Aaron didn’t buy it. He knew me too well. He jumped to his feet and held a hand out to me. “Come on, we’re going for a walk.”
I placed my hand in his, trying my hardest to quiet my emotions as we walked to a more secluded part of the beach. Somehow, strolling with him in silence helped quiet the voice in my head.
It’s going to be okay. Aaron loves you. He would never do anything to hurt you, Lucky assured me.
Aaron stopped and turned to face me, his hands coming up to cradle my face.
“Listen to me. I need you to really hear this, okay?”
I nodded.
“I’m not going anywhere. Not tomorrow, not next week, not in fifty years. Whatever happens, I’m going to be right here beside you.”
I wasn’t even shocked that he knew exactly what I was thinking. Lucky was right. Aaron’s love was something special, something worth. fighting for and having. And at that moment, there was no single doubt in my heart about us.
I believed in our love. And even though we weren’t perfect, the love we had for each other was stronger than anything we could ever go through.
I leaned up to kiss him. We’d make it, because we were built to last.
Xander Blackwood had never considered therapy for once in his life. He was an Alpha for crying out loud. Any man who needed someone else to decipher their emotions was nothing but weak.

But upon his mother’s insistence, he found himself sitting in Dr. Steven’s office. He was uncomfortable for many reasons, one of them being that he knew for a fact that he didn’t need this ‘intervention.‘ He was perfectly fine.
Dr. Steven, on the other hand, observed as his patient shifted for the third time in as many minutes. The middle–aged therapist had seen this particular type of resistance countless times before, and every time, he managed to break through.
