Chapter 122
There was genuine anguish in his eyes as he squeezed my fingers. I wanted to forgive him. But I couldn’t quite let it go yet. Still, I smiled when he leaned in to kiss me on the lips and let him hold my hand as he put the car into drive.
My mind worked overtime as we neared Aaron’s house. This Yve problem wouldn’t go away if we didn’t put a permanent stop to it.
“We need to take action against Yve. We need to get a restraining order,” I blurted out just as he drove through the large iron gates of his home.
Aaron frowned. “A restraining order? How would we even do that? Do we have cause?”
My stomach clenched. “I do.”
“What do you mean?”
I waited for him to roll the car to a stop, climb out of the vehicle, and open the passenger door.
“Jane? What reason would you use for the restraining order?” he asked as he helped me out of the car.
I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and finally said the words that had been hiding in my throat for days.
“Because you’re going to be a father.”

Aaron was staring at me with pure disbelief in his eyes. I bit my lip, trying not to laugh or smile. I feared that if I did, he would let his excitement get the best of him.
“You’re about to be a father.”
He sucked in a deep breath, his hands shaking beside him. I could feel the excitement radiating off of his wolf.
“Jane, are you… Are you really?”
I nodded. “I’m pregnant. We’re going to have a baby.”
A breathtaking transformation overtook his face. I watched as his pupils dilated, as tears threatened to spill. And then, before I could even blink, he cradled me against his chest protectively, then kissed my forehead before yelling, “We’re going to have a baby!”
It was like an explosion. And just like I predicted, Aaron couldn’t contain his excitement.
“Jane, we’re going to have a baby!” he repeated.
“Aaorn, put me down,” I protested, but judging by how I couldn’t stop laughing, I knew he wouldn’t listen to me.
He responded by squeezing me tightly in his arms, and then, he bolted. He ran with me in his arms, his long legs quickly diminishing the distance between the car and the large house.
I could feel the barely contained energy from his wolf, which mirrored the way Lucky was feeling at that moment.

The door flew open before we reached it. George appeared in the doorway, in his wheelchair, coffee mug in hand, staring at us with wide
eyes.
“What’s going on? I heard yelling.”
“We’re having a baby! George, Jane’s pregnant! We’re going to have a baby!” Aaron announced.
George’s mug slipped from his fingers and shattered against the front porch. His mouth instantly fell open. He said nothing for a moment, just staring in shock. And then, his face split into the widest grin I’d
ever seen.
“Well, I’ll be damned. A pup. After all these years…a pup,” he muttered happily.
“I know, I can’t believe it.” Aaron kissed the side of my head. “God, I love you.” He carried me inside the house and began climbing the stairs immediately.
“Aren’t we going to celebrate?” George called from behind us.
Aaron looked down meaningfully at me and said, “Yes, we are.”
Without another word, he carried me up the stairs and into his bedroom. Not the guest room I was in when I lived here, but his. I tried to angle my head to get a better look at his private space, but then he lowered me onto the silk sheets, hands lingering on my arms as if I might disappear.
“What do you need? Water? Food? Should you even be lying down?” His eyes darted around the room as if he were searching for a more comfortable position for me. His hand fluttered over me without quite touching. “Maybe you should sit up… Or no, lying down is better,

I laughed softly and reached out to cup his face. “Aaron, breathe. I’m pregnant, not dying. I’m not made of glass.”

I found myself staring at him. I didn’t know if it was my pregnancy hormones, but I was so turned on by how he’d watched over me. There were many things I wanted to do to him, and one of them rhymed with ‘pride.‘
