Chapter 111
“Did I? Because I don’t remember saying that.”
“You’re bluffing.”
She shrugged. “The media would have a field day with this story. ‘Big Alpha CEO Charged with Assault and Attempted Murder.“”
Yve’s smile widened, and then her voice dropped even lower as she delivered the words that would haunt me forever: “If I can’t have you, Aaron, no one else can.”
*Aaron*
My limbs went on vacation. That was the only explanation for my current paralysis. I stared at her. I didn’t know who this person was. Hell, the moment I married her she’d morphed into an entirely different
person.
There had been a time when just the sight of her was enough to stop my world from spinning. When I’d lose myself completely in those bright green eyes. I was absolutely certain that this shell of a person was my forever.
And now? All I saw was a desperate girl crying for help. Or rather, blackmailing me to stay with her.
I couldn’t bring myself to speak. Truth was, if Yve tried to hurt me, or Jane, she would only end up hurting herself. My fear was maybe Yve was desperate enough to not give a shit.

The more the silence stretched on, the more angsty she got. I watched as she shifted uncomfortably on the bed. Her eyes darted toward the door, then snapped back to my face. I wasn’t sure why she was nervous. Probably because she couldn’t quite predict my reaction.
Finally, I broke the suffocating silence.
“I’ll cover your hospital bills.” She opened her mouth to speak, but I held up a hand. “Consider it generosity for old time’s sake.”
I watched her expression carefully. She looked at me with hope in her
eyes.
“After that, I never want to see you again.
The hope died instantly. Yve’s expression turned venomous. She tried to push herself off the bed, but winced and crashed back into the pillows. She lifted an accusatory finger and pointed it right at me.
“You can’t just dismiss me like that, Aaron. Not after everything we shared. You’re mine now, whether you like it or not. Our bond…”
“There is no bond.”
But Yve wasn;t backing down. If anything, the rejection seemed to fuel her desperation. “You can’t walk away from me, Aaron. I’m going to make sure of it. I know your secrets. I know how to ruin you. And if you think you can just…”
Fen growled, silencing her. My eyes began to glow bright red.
“Let me make something very clear, Yve. ” I stepped away from the door, stopping beside her. I towered over her, making sure she could see the determination in my gaze. “You’re an ex–convict who just walked out of prison with barely any clothes on your back. You have

no friends, no money, and no prospects. In other words, you have a lot more to lose.”
“I, on the other hand, am the Alpha of the largest pack in America. My company is worth billions. You can find me on the Forbes list if you’re curious about the exact number. So, I suggest that you don’t fight me on this. Take the money for your medical bills, disappear, and count yourself lucky that I’m feeling generous enough to let you walk away with your dignity intact.”
Yve’s face went deadly pale. The reality of the situation was finally dawning on her. I watched the last shred of defiance drain leave her. Without another word, I turned on my heel and walked out of the door.
I won’t let her manipulate my life anymore.
The moment I left the hospital, I felt a weight lifting off my shoulders. But before I could fully celebrate, Fen stirred in the back of my mind.
This isn’t over. She’s going to try something else. You know how she is. She never gives up if she wants something badly enough.
I know, and I’m going to be ready when she comes. But right now, I’m going to enjoy the fact that I won this round. I deserve a bloody drink after dealing with Yve two days in a row.
I climbed into my car and began the drive to my bar. I hadn’t been to Moonfall in a while, and I was in desperate need of that atmosphere.
After a short drive, I pulled into the bar’s driveway. I swung the door open and the familiar sounds washed over me. All the shifters nodded respectfully as I passed. But I knew where I was headed.
