Chapter 9 Love At First Sight For Matthew

Accompanied by laughter, two people entered the room–one was Matthew, who had been summoned back by Queena, and the other was a mischievous friend who insisted on coming along for the entertainment.
The one laughing was Matthew’s friend. He was unable to hold back after hearing Noelle’s comment about selling tickets.
Noelle recognized Matthew at a glance. She had seen his photos before, but they were nowhere near as striking as seeing him in person.
He stood about one hundred and eighty–five centimeters tall. He had a tall, upright posture, and his face was undeniably handsome. Noelle made no effort to hide her appreciation, gazing at him with pure admiration for beauty itself.
However, there was something about him. When he stood there without speaking, he seemed almost detached from the world.
She couldn’t sense any emotion from him. No wonder Queena had said he was just short of becoming a monk.
The other person was Dominic Sholl, the young master of the Sholl family and a leading figure in Jamore’s business circles.
Queena eagerly pulled Noelle closer.
“Elle, let Auntie introduce you. This is my son, Matthew. You can call him ‘Matt!”
Dominic, ever playful, darted over and clung to Queena’s arm as he sat down.
“It’s only been a few days since we last met, Ms. Caffyn, but you’ve become even more beautiful!”
“You’re such a troublemaker.”
Queena laughed and scolded him. Clearly, they were close.
Dominic, never one for formal introductions, naturally turned to Noelle.
“You must be Ellie. My name is Dominic. You can call me ‘Dom!”
He had overheard Queena’s phone call earlier. She was planning to leave this beautiful young lady in Matthew’s care.
Meanwhile, Matthew sat on the sofa across from Noelle, holding his phone. It seemed he was occupied with something.
Noelle waited for him to put away his phone before speaking.
“Mr. Harris, sorry for the intrusion.”
Unfazed, Matthew looked at Noelle, something flickering in his gaze. He responded indifferently, “It’s fine.”
After the brief introduction, Queena took Noelle’s hand, ready to leave.
“Elle, you just said you liked this place. Come, let’s…”
Before she could finish, Matthew interrupted, “Mom, Dad’s looking for you.”
Queena looked at her son in confusion. Why didn’t he call me directly? Why did he call Matthew instead?
Matthew remained calm.
“It seems urgent. You should head to somewhere quiet and call him back.”
Though slightly puzzled, Queena still asked Noelle to wait for her before stepping into the lounge with her phone.
“Mr. Harris, don’t worry. I never intended to stay here. I came to visit as Ms. Caffyn was quite enthusiastic.”
She figured that Matthew had sent his mother away on purpose probably for this very reason.
“The room upstairs has already been cleaned up. Would you like to take a look, Ms. Yersley?”

Beside them, Dominic’s eyes nearly popped out of his head.

Back on the way here, wasn’t Matthew the one who said to just find a random place to dump her in? Is something wrong with my bram? Or had Matthew suddenly decided to be a decent human being?
Matthew was known for his territorial nature. The second floor was his private space.
Even Dominic could only stay in the first–floor guest rooms. He couldn’t believe Matthew was asking Noelle to stay next to his
room.
Noelle was also a bit surprised. What is Mr. Matthew up to? He probably doesn’t like strangers in his house. Maybe he had prepared a guest room, thinking I’d stay the night?
Whatever his reasoning, she didn’t care. Noelle took a deep breath.
“Mr. Harris, there’s no need to trouble yourself. Once Ms. Caffyn finishes her call, I’ll be leaving.”
Matthew ignored her refusal.
“As far as I know, you’re in some sort of trouble, right?”
Noelle looked at Matthew, unable to figure out what he was getting at.
“It’s not really trouble.”
She was telling the truth. Ryder’s family was still reasonable, and the rest weren’t worth mentioning. They posed no threat to her.
“This won’t stay a secret.”
Matthew stopped right after making his point.
Noelle hesitated. She had indeed overlooked this. It wouldn’t be long before word spread that the Sandback family’s newly acknowledged granddaughter had been thrown out.
This circle was known for elevating some while stepping on others. She was about to attend Jamore University, and who knew how many people would be lying in wait to cause trouble for her? She wasn’t afraid of them, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t be annoyed.
“Ms. Yersley, I can help you avoid these troubles.”
Dominic was stunned, watching Matthew shamelessly coaxing a young girl. Internally, he was full of disdain, but he kept a straight face.
If he exposed Matthew’s ploy now, this scheming b*stard would make his life miserable later. So, he decided to back Matthew up instead.
“That’s right, Ellie! If you stay here, no one will dare bother you. In Jamore, the name ‘Matthew Harris‘ still carries weight.”
Noelle studied Matthew. He didn’t seem like the type to be so helpful. She couldn’t help but wonder why he was willing to help her.
Matthew seemed to read her thoughts.
“My mom likes you a lot. My dad and I are usually busy and don’t have time to keep her company. If you stay here, you can keep her company from time to time.”
Noelle understood. Matthew was quite filial. This way, they would both get what they needed.
Beside them. Dominic kept making exaggerated faces. Matthew, could you be any more shameless?
Ever since Matthew took over the company, his dad had been free as a bird, practically glued to Queena every day Saying he had no time for Queena was pure bullsh*t.
Matthew ignored Dominic’s antics, stood up, and politely extended a hand

“Ms. Yersley, let me show you the room.”
එ
Since she had decided to stay, Noelle didn’t hesitate. She took his hand and stood up.
Dominic had already gone numb. They are holding hands already? What a beast. Ellis is so young!

Matthew let go immediately, taking a step back to maintain a comfortable social distance as he led Noelle toward the stairs.
She hesitated for a moment. The second floor was obviously where Matthew resided. It didn’t seem appropriate for her to stay here.
There were plenty of empty buildings behind. Shouldn’t she be staying there instead?
If she wasn’t mistaken, Queena wanted to bring her there to pick a place to stay earlier when Matthew cut her off.
Matthew shot Dominic a look, stopping him from following, and led Noelle upstairs. He opened a room on the west side of the corridor.
“Ms. Yersley, see if this room suits you.”
Noelle glanced around. It was a small suite with a separate dressing room, bathroom, and even a small living area.
“It’s a great room, but would I be disturbing you?”
She was implying that she could stay farther away.
Matthew pointed to a room on the east side of the corridor.
“That’s my room. Ms. Yersley, don’t worry. The walls are well soundproofed.”
That settled it. The rooms were a decent distance apart, so Noelle agreed.
They returned downstairs, and just as they sat down, Queena finished her call.
Hearing that Noelle had decided to stay, she urged Matthew to take good care of her before dashing out to catch the car Preston had sent.
No doubt, that was Matthew’s doing. He had probably threatened his dad, saying that if he didn’t take care of Queena, he’d have to return to work at Harris Group.
Dominic gave Matthew a thumbs–up. He was truly impressed.
Matthew glanced at Dominic. Why is he still here?
Then, he turned to Noelle and asked gently, “Ms. Yersley, I happen to be free today. Do you need help packing your things?”
Dominic was speechless. Noelle had just agreed to stay here, but Matthew wanted her to move in already.
Noelle didn’t mind. Since she had decided to stay here, it didn’t matter when she moved in.
However, she had been staying at the cybersecurity department, and it wasn’t appropriate for Matthew to give her a ride there. Besides, she might need to move back there later.
“No need to trouble you, Mr. Harris. Just lend me a driver, and I’ll go shopping instead.”
Matthew’s eyes darkened slightly. It seems she has other plans.
He didn’t insist and instructed Hudson to arrange for a driver to take her to the mall.
