Chapter 25 Cast A Wide Net
A thought occurred to Matthew.
“Elle, I have to go abroad in a few days. Would you like to come along for some fun?”
Not participating in the orientation equated to having a half–month vacation.
Noelle shook her head.
“I have something to do.”
The cybersecurity department had intercepted an intelligence trade on the dark web, and after a meticulous investigation, it led back to the military district. They didn’t dare to make decisions rashly, so she had to return to take charge.
Moreover, her status didn’t allow her to leave the country casually; it required prior notification.
Matthew had always known that Noelle had her own affairs to attend to. He had no intention of prying into Noelle’s privacy and had never asked about it.
“What a shame. I thought I would have the chance to spend a few days with you.”
“We live together,” Noelle reminded him. He was making it sound like they didn’t see each other every day.
With a light chuckle, Matthew chose not to explain that traveling together and staying at home were completely different experiences.
“It’s getting late, so you should go to sleep now.”
He patted Noelle’s head and pulled her up.
“Don’t pat my head; it’ll stop me from growing taller.” Noelle rarely uttered such a childish remark.
Matthew bent down slightly to meet Noelle’s gaze.
“You’re still hoping to grow taller?”
Noelle pouted unhappily. Her height was a sore point.
She stood at a height of 162 centimeters, which wasn’t particularly short. However, when she was next to Matthew, who towered at 185 centimeters, she couldn’t help but look like a child in comparison.
Matthew took Noelle’s hand and led her back to her room.
“Going to bed early and rising early is the key to growing taller.”
Sticking her tongue out, Noelle shut the door on Matthew with a resounding slam.
Shut out beyond the door, Matthew chuckled softly. He could feel that Noelle had considerably relaxed in his presence, and wasn’t that a delightful thing?
After the orientation at Jamore University commenced, Noelle also embarked on her vacation.
Matthew had to drag Dominic, who was still lingering around, onto the plane with him. This was to ensure that the latter wouldn’t pester Noelle while he was away.
Before setting off, he told Noelle to seek Ryleigh’s help if anything came up.
Among the group, Ryleigh appeared to be the least approachable. It was somewhat puzzling, but it wasn’t worth dwelling on.
She agreed, allowing Matthew to set off with peace of mind.
She hadn’t mentioned that she was also going to the cybersecurity department, so what could she possibly need his help with?
Noelle arrived at her office, and immediately someone knocked on the door. A redhead man entered, handing Noelle a set of

documents.
The man with the red hair went by the codename “Duke“. For safety reasons, colleagues within the cybersecurity department only knew each other by their codenames and were unaware of their real names. Only Noelle held their true identities in her hands.
Duke was one of the earliest people to follow Noelle to the cybersecurity department. The department had since undergone significant changes.
The operation had expanded manifold compared to before. People were busy working everywhere one looked. Those few who were initially part of it had now become capable enough to hold their own.
Whenever there was a problem, these few were the ones to report to Noelle, and this time, it was one of Duke’s subordinates who discovered the matter.
The intercepted message indicated that they were set to make a transaction in recent days. However, there was no further communication afterward. It was unclear whether the deal was called off or they had connected through other means.
Noelle was tapping her fingertips against the table, her gaze fixated on the circled area.
Suddenly, she thought of Maisie, who was known for spending money like water, and she paused for a moment.
“Cast a wide net over this entire area, with a particular focus on monitoring the Zimmers family. Assign someone to keep a close eye on the internal networks of the railways and airlines. If they are spotted leaving the country, intercept them immediately.”
“Boss, about the military district…”
They had recklessly hacked into the military district’s internal network, so wouldn’t that cause some misunderstanding on their end?
“I’ll handle the negotiations at the military district. All you need to do is ensure the surveillance is in place.”
Although she told them to cast a wide net, Noelle felt that there was a high probability it was the Zimmers family.
Cameron was likely not the problem, but she was uncertain to what extent his son was involved.
After sorting out the subsequent matters, Noelle went to the military district to meet Carlos and explain the situation.
Upon hearing this, Carlos sighed.
“Elle, if this matter is indeed true, Cameron probably wasn’t aware of it. I’m not trying to defend him, but I’ve known that old fellow for decades, so I’m quite certain about this.”
Noelle’s expression remained unchanged.
“I’m not suspecting Cameron. It’s his son, Ethan, who needs to be closely watched.”
“All right, I’ll arrange for someone to keep an eye on him.”
Carlos shook his head.
“Thankfully, we discovered this early. Otherwise, if something had really gone wrong, poor Cameron might have ended up in a real mess.”
The information they handled could essentially be considered state secrets. If it really leaked from Cameron’s side, the consequences would be unimaginable..
Not just Ethan, but every single person in the Zimmers family.”
It was just that Ethan was the likeliest suspect.
After some thought, Noelle still felt uneasy. She called Griffin, requesting a few people to keep an eye on Ethan’s wife. The agents from the National Security Agency were quite adept at such tasks..
Ethan’s wife, whose maiden name was Lilah Daines, came from a family of businesspeople. She was the relative Yuliana had
