Noelle, with her bag on her back, stepped out of the campus gates to see Matthew’s car parked at the entrance. The car Matthew used to pick up and drop off Noelle was always rather understated, not drawing much attention.
“How did your first day go?”
Noelle, with a spiritless demeanor, leaned back on the rear seat, gazing out of the window, looking as if she had lost all interest in life.
“It wasn’t great. It was too noisy.”
It was only the opening ceremony that day, and she could leave once she’d familiarized herself with the campus.
Otherwise, she would have gone insane. Indeed, she just couldn’t get used to the bustling crowd.
Noelle narrowed her eyes, unable to suppress the irritation that bubbled up from the depths of her heart.
Matthew moved closer, reaching out to gently grasp Noelle’s chin, turning her face toward him. He wanted to see what was wrong with Noelle.
Following his lead, Noelle smoothly pivoted toward him, ending up lying directly on top of him.
This unexpected closeness caused Matthew’s heart to race. With a firm grip around her waist, he effortlessly lifted Noelle onto his lap.
The two individuals ahead were almost popping their eyes out. What on earth is Mr. Matthew up to?
They dared not look any longer, hastily raising the divider.
Noelle didn’t resist, comfortably nestling in Matthew’s arms, too lazy to move.
Unlike their previous encounter at the resort, this time, it was Noelle who wanted to be held by him. At that moment, Matthew felt incredibly content.
Gently patting Noelle’s back, he soothed her emotions. It was rare for her to lean on him like that. He only wished that time could pass a little slower.
The car came to a halt in front of the main building. Matthew lifted his eyes and shot the driver a displeased look. The driver himself was quite helpless.
He didn’t want to ruin Matthew’s plans either. The problem was that the distance was so short that even if he drove slowly, he would still arrive at the destination by then. What usually took him just over ten minutes had taken him nearly an hour this time around.
Matthew looked at the person who had already fallen asleep in his arms and signaled his bodyguard to open the rear car
door.
Matthew didn’t wake Noelle. Instead, he carried her out of the car. The commotion stirred Noelle from her sleep, but Matthew gently patted her, reassuring her to go back to sleep.
Ignoring the shocked look in Alex’s eyes, who had just come over to report on work, he directly carried the person upstairs.
Hudson, with a knowing look in his eyes, hurried up the stairs to open the door. Normally, aside from the housekeepers who cleaned, no one else would enter Noelle’s room. Thus, Hudson directly opened the door to Matthew’s room.
Matthew carried Noelle into the room, gently placing her on the bed. Hudson, trailing behind, quietly shut the door. In the same fluid motion, he managed to drag away Alex, who had followed them, intending to eavesdrop from the corner.
Inside the room, Noelle found herself lying in Matthew’s bed. Truth be told, she had awakened when Matthew carried her in but chose to remain silent, allowing him to take her upstairs.
Not wanting to argue with him about the room situation, she chose to stay silent, wanting some peace. Matthew respected her wishes, poured her a glass of water, placed it on the bedside table, and then went downstairs.
The few people crouching downstairs saw Matthew descend, and Alex blurted out immediately. “So soon?”

“Alex, take some coffee beans over to my grandpa at Harris Manor.”
“Mr. Matthew, I was wrong. I truly have urgent matters to discuss with you.”

Every time they visited Harris Manor, they would inevitably run into a few of their buddies. Supposedly, it was all in the name of sparring, but it always ended up with them getting a one–sided beating.
He was all talk, and he couldn’t really compare to those who served as guards for Lorenzo.
After taking a beating, they still mocked them for their weakness, dealing a blow to both their mental and physical state.
Every time Matthew visited Harris Manor, they would all scatter and run if they could. That was Matthew’s blatant act of revenge against him.
Alex was at the brink of tears, though none fell. He truly wished he could slap himself for his loose tongue.
“Let’s talk about it when you return.”
With a wave of his hand. Matthew dismissed Alex, paying no heed to his protests.
Matthew had planned to cook himself, and Noelle quite liked the dishes he prepared.
She was in a bad mood that day, and he wanted to cheer her up.
When Matthew was busy cooking. Dominic hauled a suitcase in as he entered from the door, saying, “Matthew, I’ve come to be with you.”
Matthew furrowed his brows. “What are you here for?”
Dominic lamented his miseries in a pitiful manner.
“I’m hiding out at your place for a couple of days. My mom has gone ballistic, insisting that I go on a blind date.”
“What’s it to me?” Matthew was utterly straightforward.
“Don’t do this to me. After all, we grew up together. Can you really bear to see me fall into hardship?”
Just as Matthew was about to have him thrown out, he reconsidered, remembering that Noelle was in a bad mood that day.
With the jovial Dominic around, perhaps her mood could be lifted, or at the very least, she could treat it as a comic relief.
Oblivious to being treated as a handyman, Dominic unwittingly found himself in the kitchen.
“Wow! Did you cook this yourself to welcome me? I’m really flattered.”
As he was about to reach out, Matthew swiftly swatted his hand away.
“Watch him.”
Matthew tossed out a remark before turning around to ascend the stairs.
Immediately, someone ushered him away from the side. Dominic was loudly complaining about Matthew’s mistreatment of him, to which Hudson responded with laughter, “Mr. Dominic, you might want to wait a bit. This is made by Mr. Matthew for Ms. Yersley.”
“Where’s Little Noelle? I need to complain. Can she do something about Matthew? Is this how one treats their guests?”
“Ms. Yersley is in a foul mood, resting upstairs.”
Hudson didn’t dare to let that troublemaker know that Matthew had taken Noelle into his own room.
Matthew pushed open the bedroom door, only to find Noelle wrapped up in the blanket, looking much like a caterpillar. Moving closer, Matthew gave the blanket a slight tug.
“Do you want to become a butterfly, Elle?”

Noelle rolled around in bed, a muffled sound emanating from beneath the covers.
“I need to cocoon myself.”

Matthew held her down along with the blanket, pulling it down to reveal Noelle’s small face. With a smile in his voice, he leaned in closer.
“Are you hungry?”
What on earth is wrong with this person? Noelle shivered slightly. Her initial desire to laze around in bed instantly vanished as she pushed Matthew away.
“I’m hungry. Let’s eat.”
Matthew rose to his feet and stepped back, watching as the young girl emerged from the blanket.
“Do you need me to carry you down?” he asked.
Noelle shot him a glance, got up, and climbed out of bed, with Matthew leisurely trailing behind her.
As soon as she reached downstairs, she saw Dominic seated on the couch.
“Hey, Little Noelle!”
“Hey, what is this…” Noelle was observing the people on either side of Dominic. Has he been taken hostage?
Dominic’s face fell. Just as he was about to condemn Matthew’s shameless actions, Hudson beat him to it, saying, “Ms. Yersley, would you like to dine now? Mr. Matthew has personally prepared a meal for you.”
Noelle’s attention was instantly diverted. She stopped paying attention to Dominic and was led by Matthew, who had just come downstairs, to the dining room for a meal.
“See if it suits your taste.”
Once Noelle had settled down, Dominic was finally released. He didn’t need anyone to beckon him. He followed the couple on his own accord.
This time, he had learned his lesson, fearing that Matthew would kick him out. After all, not just anyone could have the privilege of tasting the meals prepared by Matthew.
“Little Noelle, are you feeling upset? Did Matthew upset you?” Dominic asked.
“I don’t want to go to the campus.” Noelle felt listless. Even delicious food couldn’t lift her spirits anymore.
“Ah… I feel the same. Studying is such a drag.”
Dominic could deeply relate to Noelle’s feelings. He, too, was not fond of studying. He remembered how, during his childhood, this sentiment had often led to him getting punished.
“What should I do, then?”
It seemed as though Noelle was earnestly asking Dominic a question.
Dominic was momentarily at a loss for words. If he were to encourage Noelle to skip class, he was afraid that Matthew would beat him up on the spot.
“Uh… Tricky situation. How about we play a game after dinner? Haha!”
With a silly grin, Dominic deftly changed the subject.
