Chapter 11 Moving To Matthew Manor
Before Noelle had a chance to react, Matthew swiftly changed the subject.
“Have you had enough to eat? I’ll accompany you upstairs to tidy up your things.”
Noelle stood up.
“There’s no need to trouble you any further, Mr. Harris. Uh… Matty, I mean. There isn’t much stuff. I can sort it out myself.”
Noelle had never called out to him like that before, always feeling an inexplicable sense of embarrassment.
Matthew, on the other hand, found no problem with it.
“Then I’ll wait for you downstairs, Elle. Once you’re done packing, I’ll show you around here.”
After a moment of restraint, Noelle said, “Matty, you should attend to your matters. It’s fine for someone else to show me around.”
Matthew gestured for her to look around. Noelle’s eyes widened in surprise. Where’s everyone? Hudson was just here, along with the housekeepers and Matthew’s bodyguards. Where have all the people gone?
That day, Matthew got his wish to spend some alone time with Noelle until past nine. After seeing Noelle return to her room, Matthew, in a good mood, also retired to his own room to rest.
Noelle was lying in bed, wondering if Matthew’s enthusiasm toward her had been a bit excessive or if he was naturally kind- hearted.
Unable to make sense of her thoughts, Noelle decided to stop pondering and simply went to sleep.
The next day, Noelle woke up quite early. She didn’t have the habit of being particular about her bed, so she had a good night’s sleep. Feeling refreshed and energetic, she headed downstairs.
Coincidentally, she ran into Matthew, who had just returned from his morning workout.
“Good morning, Elle.”
“Good morning.”
Noelle found herself somewhat at a loss for words when it came to addressing him.
“I’m going upstairs to take a shower. You go ahead and start breakfast, Elle,” he suggested.
Noelle was seated on the couch when Hudson came over to speak with her.
“Ms. Yersley, do you want to have breakfast now? I’ll someone prepare it.”
“I’ll wait for Mr. Matthew.”
Matthew had just returned from exercising. Presumably, he hadn’t eaten yet.
Hudson nodded, his smile bright and warm.
“I see. Understood, Ms. Yersley.”
Matthew quickly descended the stairs, his eyes landing on Noelle, who was waiting to have breakfast with him. A hint of a smile played on his lips.
Hudson stealthily cleared everyone out of the dining room, leaving the two alone in their private space. I knew there was definitely something brewing between them.
“How did you sleep, Elle?” Matthew asked gently.
“I slept quite good. The room is pretty nice.”
Noelle felt that perhaps the information was incorrect because Matthew was clearly a very pleasant person to be around.

“That’s good. Don’t be formal. Just let Hudson know if you need anything.”
Noelle nodded, tentatively saying, “May I add a few things to the small living room on my side?”

There were two small living rooms on the second floor, one on each side. Noelle was referring to the small living room near her bedroom.
She was fond of that place, with a large window at the back that offered a view of the scenery in the yard. However, the overly rigid arrangement made it a bit tiring to sit there for too long.
It’s good that she has requests. Matthew chuckled when he heard that. He was just worried that Noelle was becoming too distant from him.
“Of course. You can treat your area as your personal space and manage it as you wish. I usually won’t go there.”
After a pause, he continued, “If you find it inconvenient, we can add a door in the middle, Elle.”
Without delay, Noelle shook her head. “No need. It’s already perfect. Now that you’ve agreed to it, can I go ahead and buy the stuff?”
Noelle was filled with joy. Since she was going to live here and she didn’t have to be as busy as she was before, she naturally wanted to make herself more comfortable.
“Tell Hudson what you want. There’s no need to buy it yourself. Someone will deliver it.”
He yearned to accompany her personally, but he understood the principle of moderation. Being too forward could potentially scare her away.
Noelle curved her lips slightly. She honestly wasn’t too keen on going out either, so she genuinely expressed her thoughts.
“You truly are a good person.”
Matthew didn’t know what to say in response. Should I thank her?
After dinner, Noelle went to see Hudson while Matthew retreated to his study to read.
This kind of social distance gave Noelle a sense of peace.
For the past few days, Noelle had been staying comfortably in Matthew Manor. The meals prepared by Matthew’s household chef were delicious, as were the desserts.
For someone who loved to eat, it could be said that it was the greatest joy.
After having a satisfying meal, she took a leisurely stroll around the pond garden to aid digestion. Then, she proceeded to work in the completely refurbished small living room, where her computer had already been returned.
During this time, Queena called her, mentioning that she had to travel abroad for some business with Preston. She urged her to treat Matthew Manor as her own home and to feel at ease. She also warned that if Matthew dared to bully her, she would deal with him upon her return.
The past few days had seen Noelle and Matthew getting along quite harmoniously. Whenever she was working, Matthew never disturbed her.
When Matthew went out, he would always bring back all sorts of delicious treats for her. She genuinely believed that Matthew was a wonderful person.
It even seemed like this wonderful person had a bit of free time on their hands.
Noelle thought running such a huge corporation would keep Matthew busy. How does he manage to spend so much time at home?
During their meal, Noelle asked Matthew about it, to which Matthew responded with a light chuckle, “The annual salary of a few executive CEOs from Harris Group is comparable to the yearly revenue of a typical small business.”
Noelle went silent. All right. I get it now. It was my perspective that was limited. A true capitalist can make money while lying down.
Matthew looked at Noelle seriously and said, “I have three reliable special assistants. One is in charge of overseeing Harris

Group’s affairs, another manages my overseas businesses, and the last one handles external social engagements. I’ll introduce you to them later.”
Those special assistants were all from the Harris family.
The Harris family had invested a substantial amount of money into, supporting orphans. Those with promising abilities were taken to Jamore for focused education and later positioned to serve the members of the Harris family as needed.
Matthew’s three assistants were all graduates from prestigious business schools. Their loyalty was unquestionable, and they were highly capable.
Since the time Matthew went abroad, they had followed him to study. Having been with Matthew for over a decade, it could be said that they were as close as siblings.
Noelle was a bit taken aback. I merely asked a question, didn’t I?” Has Matthew said too much? Are these things he can just share with anyone?
Matthew lowered his gaze, not allowing Noelle to see the affection and determination in his eyes. I’m taking things slow. She can’t escape…
He lifted his gaze, his expression as serene as a calm breeze and light clouds, subtly changing the subject.
“Elle, your classes will start soon, right?”
Noelle nodded, answering in a weary tone, “My good days are coming to an end.”
Matthew found it amusing to see Noelle’s spirit deflate in an instant.
“Do you hate studying so much?”
Noelle was restlessly poking at the small cupcake that Matthew had bought for her.
“The mere thought of interacting with so many people is suffocating. Why do I have to go to study? It feels like such a waste of time.”
Over the days they spent together, Matthew discovered that this young girl was far from ordinary.
He had no intention of prying into Noelle’s private life, but this young lady seemed to have her guard down around him, often revealing bits and pieces about herself during their conversations.
With a sigh, Matthew decided he needed to gently caution the young girl. He urged her not to share everything with others, lest she unknowingly aid those who might take advantage of her.
However, he soon realized he had been overly worried. Noelle was actually quite perceptive.
She had an uncanny ability to accurately perceive how most people felt about her. The young girl had categorized him as one of her own. Hence, she had her guard down around him.
Matthew found himself caught between joy and worry. On one hand, he was delighted by Noelle’s trust in him. On the other, he was concerned that Noelle’s trust was that of a sibling’s.
The road ahead was long and arduous, but he still had endurance to spare.
