names were just for show.
Then he spent millions hiring a fortune teller
for Madison’s baby.
My mouth was dry. “It’s a good name.‘
I noticed the baby looked weird, and my hand
slid to his neck, but Madison screamed,
“What are you doing to my baby?”
Liam pushed me.
I landed on the ground, and a rock cut into
my surgery scar. Madison gasped.
She reached out to help, but Liam held her.
“Anything you want to do, do it to me!”
Madison explained, “Liam, she didn’t…”
“I saw everything. Ever since she came back,
she’s been plotting.”
Liam glared at me. “You killed your baby and
you’re hurting Madison? You never change!”

my baby? You cooked the food! Then I
started bleeding! How did my baby die? Why
can’t I have kids?”
Liam said without guilt, “I cooked! How could
I cause problems? You probably ate
something!”
“Your uterus was removed because you were
useless. You almost became a mother, and
now you’re hurting a mother who gave you
her baby. Apologize!”

I bowed and turned to leave.

Liam panicked, like he was losing something,
but then he shook his head. He would make
up with Natalie when Madison left.
My parents glared. “Madison should have

anything.
Then someone ran in. “Mrs. Quaid jumped off

They all stampeded outside. Sirens screamed
in the distance, and the ambulance was
already there. A pool of blood stained the
ground, and a white sheet covered a frail
body, revealing a tattered gray dress.
Mrs. Quaid covered her mouth, tears gushing.
“That’s… the dress Natalie wore when she
came home!”
Liam refused to believe it. He broke through
the police tape, roaring for them to uncover
the body.
“Who are you?”
