Liam’s cold voice dropped like a lead weight:
“I’m doing this for Madison. I can’t leave any
loose ends.”
“This is what Natalie owes Madison.”
“Besides, they’re sisters. What’s wrong with
her raising Madison’s kid?”
The incision in my stomach felt like it was
tearing open all over again. I could almost see
my baby boy again, struggling, fading, gone.
く
“You’re gonna regret this, Liam. I saw the way
you look at Natalie. You’re not completely
heartless.”
“If I hadn’t screwed things up in the first
place, Madison wouldn’t have broken off our
engagement and ran off to Europe.” Liam
sighed. “Letting her have my child was the
best I could do for her.”
“I owe her everything. I’ll never be able to pay
it back.”
Connor’s voice was tight with anger. “Then
go after Madison!”
The air crackled with unspoken words.
I lay there, tears streaming down my face,
trying not to make a sound.
く
“Is she still out?”
Liam’s fingers brushed my forehead. “She’s
been out for so long. What if cutting her open
like this messes with her?”
He could do something like this to me and act
like it was no big deal? What a damn snake.
Slowly, I opened my eyes, meeting his gaze.
Instant sweetness.
I’d been fooled by that charming face for so
long, convinced he loved me as much as I
loved him. That’s why, when I saw that blood,
I fought like hell to save our baby.
I even used my knowledge of acupressure to
keep me awake enough to deliver. Turns out,
he was the real monster.
く
He’d been spiking my food with abortion pills,
staging a massive hemorrhage. And then he
brought in the best damn surgeon money
could buy.
What a cruel mind!
