Chapter 6
I shut my eyes, feeling disgusted. “You’re seriously shameless. Go get dressed. Just looking at you makes me sick.”
Sophie trembled as she picked up her clothes from the floor and quickly got dressed. Then, she clung to Mark in panic. “Mark, what do we do now? If Flynn finds out, we’re both finished.”
He finally pulled himself together, stood up, and looked at me.
“Honey, I’m sorry. I wasn’t thinking clearly. That woman tempted me. I messed up like so many guys do. Please don’t tell Flynn–he’ll kill me!”
Sophie grabbed his arm in disbelief and yelled, “Mark, how dare you! You’re blaming me for this? When I was having an episode, you got on my bed and said my moaning distracted you. You were the one who made a move!”
They began shouting at each other, and their bickering gave me a serious headache.
“Enough! Neither of you is innocent. You both deserve public shame!”
Mark was half–bent in front of me and said sincerely, “Honey, I know I messed up. What can I do to make it right?”
He wasn’t truly sorry. He was just scared I’d tell Flynn, and Flynn wouldn’t hesitate to beat him up.
“I don’t want to hear your sweet talk. It means nothing. Let’s be real. Pay me three million for emotional damages and hand over 20% of the shares, and I’ll let it go. I know exactly what you’re afraid of.”

When Mark heard that, he snapped, “That’s way too much! Three million plus 20%? Do you even realize what you’re asking for?”
I ignored his outburst and admired my new nails like he wasn’t even
there.
“Mr. Johnston, don’t make me explain how spending money can keep you out of bigger trouble. You caused this mess.”
Sophie urged him quickly, “Just do what she says!”
I glanced at her coldly. “That’s between him and me. Your debt is different.”
She was stunned. “I don’t have money or shares. What could you even want from me?”
I smiled mockingly. “Start by dropping to your knees, apologize, and slap yourself 100 times. Then I’ll decide.”
Sophie flushed. “Dream on! I’m not giving in. Don’t act like you’re so perfect! Mark said I was way better than you in bed!”
I felt amused.
“Mark means nothing to me now. Why would I care about what trash thinks? Even if you’re better than me, you’re still the one begging.”
Sophie stood frozen, trying to keep her pride. I pulled out my phone and started dialing Flynn’s number.
She panicked, dropped to her knees, and began slapping herself while apologizing, calling herself shameful.
The rage I had held back for so long finally began to ease.
“Mark, I’m moving out today. This place disgusts me. It’s full of your filth. You’d better send me the money and shares soon. Don’t test my patience.”
I packed my things. Mark stood nearby but didn’t dare stop me.
“I used to think marrying you was my blessing. I was wrong. It was the worst mistake I ever made! You’ve got ten days. I won’t wait longer than that.”
