Chapter 10 Confrontation
The drive from Benevolence Hospital to Moonstone Heights
was half an hour.
The ride was much more comfortable than taxis. Terrell was a
good driver and the leather seat felt great.
I fell asleep in no time.
In a daze, I was awakened by Terrell. His hand was pinching my
cheek.
He rubbed my cheek and asked, “Which one is your house? I’m
driving you to your house.”
Moonstone Heights was safe with its tight security.
I grabbed my purse and got out of the car, smiling politely.
“Thanks. Don’t bother. Go home and rest.”
Lamar might be home. If he saw Terrell drive me home, a fight
was bound to happen.
And I didn’t have the energy for Lamar’s drama. I only wanted to sleep.
Chapter 10 Confrontation
Noticing the estrangement in my tone, Terrell didn’t press and
only said, “No need to work overtime in ER in the future. I’ll
assign more staff over.“”
A bright car light shone on me and Terrell.
I squinted and recognized the car. It made me frown.
Because it was Lamar’s car.
Lamar shut his car door with a bang and strode over us angrily.
Matilda hastily followed behind him.
Gripping my wrist, Lamar huffed, “It’s late. I thought you forgot
where your home was.”
He shot Terrell a wary glance and shouted at me, “I want the truth now! What’s your relationship with him?!”
We were both home late. He thought nothing was wrong when he brought Matilda here.
I let Terrell give me a ride and it gave Lamar a reason to question me with no proof.
Before I could say anything, Matilda spoke up with false caring.
“Xandra, there’s nothing between me and Lamar. You shouldn’t

hook up with a stranger to vent your anger.”
Matilda looked Terrell up and down, her expression dark.
I bet she was envious that I found a man better–looking than
Lamar.
I broke free of Lamar’s grip and glared at Matilda coldly, “He’s
my colleague. Please show some respect.”
Tears welled up in Matilda’s eyes immediately.
Lamar felt for her and yelled at me.
“Alexandra, Matilda is your best friend. How could you scold
her for an outsider?!”
To my surprise, Terrell stepped forward, shielding me with his
body.
He smiled, “Sir, let me explain. Alexandra is an employee in my hospital. She couldn’t get a taxi this late at night. So, I had to give her a ride”
Terrell’s gaze turned icy and he asked mockingly, “What’s your relationship with Alexandra? What gives you the right to question her?”
Lamar balled his fists, his gaze full of venom.
Chapter 10 Confrontation
“I’m her husband. Who do you think you are?!”
Terrell said OK as if he had been enlightened and smirked, “I see.
I’m sorry that I caused this misunderstanding between you
two.”
Then, he glared at Lamar and Matilda, his tone turning icy
suddenly.
“May I ask what’s your relationship with this lady?
“You came home at midnight with her. And you yelled at your
wife in public to defend her.”
Terrell paused and added, “If I didn’t know better, I’d think she
was your mistress.”
I covered my mouth to suppress my laughter.
At university, I never won an argument against Terrell.
His sharp tongue hadn’t dulled a bit.
Lamar’s and Matilda’s expressions changed drastically. They
both looked like they were hiding something.
In the end, Matilda forced a smile and said, “Xandra, your
colleague is too harsh.“”
