My husband, Lamar Stafford, had been secretly hooking up with my bestie, Matilda Gonzalez, for quite some time.
The day I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer was our third
wedding anniversary.
I had prepared gifts and a table full of dishes, but Lamar said he
wasn’t coming home for dinner.
Things like this had happened a lot over the past year.
I sighed and went to an upscale restaurant according to the
information given by the private detective.
Standing outside a private room, I dialed Lamar’s number.
Seconds later, the familiar ringtone sounded inside.
Lamar had to be in there.
I quickly hung up and peeked through the door crack.
There Matilda was, sitting right on Lamar’s lap!
She had been Lamar’s first love, the one he never quite got over.
She’d married a wealthy man overseas, but the marriage fell

home country all alone.
Ironically, I’d been married to Lamar for three years, and we
had never even slept together.
And I knew why–he just didn’t like me.
For the past three years, we looked like a picture–perfect couple,
all cordial and lovey–dovey. But behind closed doors, he cheated
on me time and time again.
There were even some pregnant girls showing up at my
doorstep, asking me to divorce him.
But to Lamar, I was just an old hag.
And then I noticed the sapphire necklace around Matilda’s fair,
slender neck.
I was half–asleep at Moonstone Heights when a noise woke me
- up.
Lamar finally came back.
Under the soft yellow light, he was wearing a loose bathrobe. His broad shoulders, lean legs, chiseled chest, and beautiful
collarbones peeked through the open fabric.

I looked away and turned my back to him.
After a bit, he climbed into bed and suddenly pulled me into his
arms.
I saw the gift. Thanks, he whispered into my ear.
I kept my eyes shut and said nothing.
For the past three years, we had mostly slept in separate rooms.
So when he willingly came into mine and caressed me like this
for the first time, I was completely stunned.
We’ve been married for so long. Why are you still dressed up in
front of me
Just go to sleep already, I replied, keeping it cool.
The next second, Lamar flipped over and pinned me down hard.
Then he held my wrists above my head and stared down at me.
Alexandra, why are you like a corpse in bed Total buzzkill.
Don’t touch me! I snapped, my voice hoarse.

Lamar wore a meaningful smile. Haven’t you always wanted

Then he sized me up with a hungry look, making my skin crawl.
I’ve been thinking. With Mom and Dad breathing down our
necks lately, maybe it’s time we had a baby, right
Without thinking, I blurted out, I don’t wanna have a baby with
you!
When he started to fondle me, I struggled with all my might..
