When I woke up, it was already past 10 AM. The Jiang house was quiet. I changed into the new clothes Ethan had prepared and dragged my tired body downstairs, intending to go home.
Ethan sat on the couch, smiling as he watched me,
“Are you sure you want to leave now?”
“I’m sure,” I nodded. “I have work this afternoon.”
“Alright, I won’t stop you then.”
It wasn’t until I actually went downstairs that I understood why Ethan had asked.
Jason was sitting on the living room couch with a gloomy expression. staring directly at me as I came down the stairs.

I frowned slightly, not expecting him to have come back.
“I knew you hadn’t left.”
Jason looked haggard, as if he hadn’t slept all night.
I found it somewhat amusing. “How did you know I hadn’t left?”
“I didn’t find you at home, so I checked the mansion’s security footage.”
The footage showed that after Jason and I had entered the Jiang house together, I had never left.
He’d watched the footage all night, and his last faint hope had been completely shattered.
Ethan followed me downstairs. He was fully dressed, but had deliberately left his shirt buttons undone, revealing the red marks on his neck.
“You slept together, didn’t you?” Jason’s eyes were bloodshot, his fists clenched. “You’ve had your eye on Uncle Ethan for a long time.”
Jason thought back on recent events, and everything suddenly made sense.
“So what if I did? From the moment I discovered you were cheating, we could never go back to how things were before.”
I hadn’t broken up with him immediately only because I wanted to use him to get close to Ethan.
Now that I’d achieved my goal, I naturally wouldn’t continue the nauseating charade of dating him.
“Since everything’s out in the open, let’s settle things properly today.”
I sat down on the couch, coldly looking at Jason. “You and Tiffany – how long has it been going on?”
Hearing Tiffany’s name, Jason’s expression changed slightly, showing a hint of guilt. “It was…”
“You know I hate being lied to more than anything,” I warned coldly.
“It was… the time you went on a business trip. I had a fever, and Tiffany came to take care of me. I wasn’t thinking clearly, so…”
I laughed coldly. Not thinking clearly, yet still able to have a physical reaction to his girlfriend’s best friend? Quite impressive.
Calculating the timing, this had happened over three months ago.
“So while I was away on a business trip, worried about my sick boyfriend not taking care of himself, unable to reach you by phone, I asked my best friend to check on you – and you ended up sleeping with her behind my back?”
Jason got up in a panic, crouching in front of me and grabbing my hands.
“Aria, believe me, I really don’t like Tiffany. She threw herself at me. You’re the only one I love, the only one I want to marry! I even bought the engagement ring. If it wasn’t for…”
Jason’s voice suddenly cut off.
“If it wasn’t for what?” I pulled my hands away from his. “That night you were supposed to propose – Tiffany held you up, didn’t she? What excuse did she use?”
“She… she said she was pregnant.”
