The wolf and I went to the store and bought
boxes.
Seeing that we had time, I offered, “Wanna get
dinner?”

He nodded.
We picked a restaurant.
When we got to the entrance, an alarm started blaring.
The host looked the wolf up and down, rolling
her eyes.
“We don’t allow beastmen in here.”
I was about to leave when I heard her say.
“Beastmen want to eat human food? Stick to nutrient paste.”

The hostess’s attitude made me flip.
I turned back around and stood in front of her.
く
“You can’t judge a book by its cover! Call your
manager, I want to complain about you.”
The hostess glared at me.
“Is it really worth it? For a beastman?”
“It is.”
I said coldly, “So what if he’s a beastman? I
have money, and I want to treat him. None of
your business.”
The manager had to step out and fire the
hostess, and gave me coupons.
On the way home.
The wolf kept glancing at me.
I thought he was upset about the earlier thing,
so I comforted him.

“It’s their problem! Don’t worry about it.”
He hummed.
To change the subject, I asked.
“I got them both gifts, I can’t leave you out.
What do you want?”
He stopped.
“I…”
The wolf stared at me, his Adam’s apple bobbing.
As he was about to speak.

An explosion ripped through the air, deafening.
The wolf frowned and ran towards the sound.
I chased him.
When we got there.
A rabbit beastman was lying on the ground, her legs twitching.
She had bruises, and blood soaked her chest.
The street was taped off.
An officer holstered his gun, checking the body, dispersing the crowd.
People were talking.
“Another runaway slave.”
“We paid for them, and they try to run. Serves her right.”
I felt cold.
What kind of world was this?
Г
Was being a beastman a curse?
The person next to me nudged me.
“Hey, are you the neighbor across the hall?”
She touched her long hair, staring at the wolf, about to reach out when I slapped her hand away.
She laughed nervously.
“Is this your beastman? He’s hot. You can sell
him to me when you’re done with him.”
“Have you finished talking?”
I glared at her, grabbed the wolf’s hand, and
started walking home.
