Chapter 8 Explanation
I was in no hurry. As long as I received the money, I was good. However, Christopher got home from work and said nothing about the money. I wondered if he knew about it. He would have come to me if he had. He’d defend his precious little Lorelei.
If he didn’t, I’d be talking to him.
Dinner came. Christopher told the chef to make my favorite food, and he was earnest about it. That was confusing, but then I realized what he was getting at. He was trying to get back in my good graces.
Then, I received an apology text from Lorelei and a public apology on social media, which left me surprised.
Christopher said slowly, “Now, are you happy? I didn’t have an affair with her. I only gave her the ring because she was an ambassador for the company’s jewelry. I thought she had that air about her, so I gave her a fake. I had a gem cutter polish and cut your diamond, but she took a liking to it.
