Chapter 24
Arthur
nur flashed Candice a polite smile. “Don’t take it to heart. Mollie’s always been like this.”
“It’s fine,” Candice responded softly, her demeanor obedient and composed.
Arthur turned to Justin with a calm grin and added, “Mind if I borrow him for a minute?”
“Go ahead,” Candice said, moving to sit quietly on a couch nearby.
Mollie ignored her, and Joseph was too preoccupied with singing, leaving Candice scrolling through her phone alone.
Justin loosened his tie and sat down next to Arthur. “What do you want to say?”
Arthur poured him a glass of Burgundy. “Are you really done with Serena?”
Justin’s expression hardened. “You can’t break up if you were never together. Serena and I were never a thing.”
“Then why keep her hanging on for so long?” Arthur asked.
Justin’s irritation flared. “That was her choice. She stayed because she wanted to.
Arthur sipped his wine thoughtfully. “We’ve known each other forever, so I’ll be straight with you. 19 years–she’s spent nearly a quarter of her life with you. That’s not something Serena will just let go of.”
Justin smirked faintly. “You think she still can’t get over me?”
Arthur shook his head. “I’m saying that if you crush her completely this time, she’ll never forgive you. You two can’t go back to
how things were before.”
Justin’s gaze turned icy. “I walked away from her. Since when does she get to forgive me?”
Arthur patted his shoulder. “If you’ve made up your mind, so be it. You have a girlfriend now, so I guess whether Serena comes back or not doesn’t matter anymore.”
“Exactly.” Justin clinked his glass against Arthur’s, but his mood had soured.
Joseph had sung so many songs that his throat got dry. He signaled for one of the attractive women nearby to take over, then sprawled on the couch, lazily sipping a glass of juice.
Mollie nudged him with her elbow “Hey, Joseph Are you close to Wilson?”
Joseph choked, spraying juice everywhere “What the hell–no! Why would I be close to him? He and Justin are practically sworn. enemies. If I got chummy with him, I’d be betraying Justin!”
“My mom said you fought him when you were kids,” Mollie added casually, swirling her drink
Joseph froze, looking visibly uneasy. “Why are you bringing that up now?”

The memory was a sore spot. Until he was six, Joseph had been a carefree little tyrant. Then came the day Wilson pinned him to
the ground, breaking a rib and knocking out half a tooth. He had been bedridden for weeks, and from that point on, Joseph had learned to pick his battles.
Mollie tapped her finger on her glass, her tone musing. “I don’t think Wilson’s as scary as people say. They talk about him like he’s some kind of monster, but when I saw him the other day, he looked so graceful and handsome. He wasn’t anything like what
I expected.”
guy’s not just bad news–he’s the worst. Don’t let
Joseph sat up, alarmed. “Are you kidding me? Don’t be fooled by his looks! That guy’s not his face trick you.”
If anyone had firsthand experience, it was Joseph. When Wilson beat him up, he did not shout or curse even once. He had just calmly lifted Joseph by his collar and made him apologize.
It was not just Wilson’s appearance that was unsettling–it was the sheer coldness he exuded.
Wiping juice off his mouth, Joseph suddenly narrowed his eyes. “Wait… Why are you asking about
Wilson?”
