Chapter 21
Candice stared at Serena for a moment, waiting for a reaction. However, Serena seemed unfazed by h
Instead, Serena simply looked at her and asked, “Are you done?”
She turned to the manager. “Can you pack me another one of these cakes?”
The manager hesitated, glancing between the two women, but eventually handed over another cake.
her taunts.
Candice’s smile faded slightly, “Serena, why waste money buying another one? Here, take your cake back.”
She handed the bag to Serena but let go before Serena could grab it. Then, with a loud splat, the cake hit the floor, breaking apart
into a mess.
Candice covered her mouth with a dramatic gasp. “Oops! My bad, But it’s not a big deal. This cake shop is about to be mine anyway, so I’ll have them send over a few more to make it up to you.”
For the first time, Serena reacted, “You’re buying this bakery?”
“That’s right.”
Candice’s smile widened with satisfaction. “I’m not really cut out for office work, so Justin told me to find something I like. I’ve had cakes from this place before, and they’re good. I’ve decided to buy it.”
She paused, her tone growing even more smug. “Once I tell Justin, this shop will be mine.”
Serena’s fingers tightened into a fist, her nails digging into her palm. The sting grounded her, bringing a bittersweet clarity. She finally accepted that all those years of loyalty were truly not worth it.
Candice’s voice broke her thoughts. “Oh, and Serena, I heard you used to dream of opening a bakery. What a coincidence, huh?”
Candice was practically glowing with glee. She wanted Serena to know she was not just taking her man but her dream too.
Just as Candice was reveling in her victory, Serena picked up the cake box in front of her and, without warning, smashed it onto
Candice’s head.
“Ah!” Candice shricked, stumbling back a few steps. “Are you crazy?”
“Keep the cake,” Serena said coldly. “Just looking at it disgusts me.”
She shot Candice one last icy glare before turning on her heel and walking toward the door.
After a few steps, Serena paused and glanced back. “Honestly, I think you’re the one who’s pathetic.”
Candice stiffened. “What do you mean?”
“If you were really so happy, you wouldn’t need to keep bragging about how much Justin loves you. People only try to prove what they’re missing ”

Serena’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “You’re so desperate to convince me Justin loves you… Could it be you’re not even sure
yourself?”
Candice’s face twisted with rage as Serena hit a nerve. She snapped, “Justin loves me! If he didn’t, why would he push you away?
Serena, you’re just jealous!‘”
Vet Serena did not bother responding. The sound of the glass door slamming shut and her retreating figure were the only answers
Candice got.
Her assistant hurried over, dabbing at the frosting on Candice’s hair. “Ms. Ashton, there’s a restroom upstairs. You can clean up
there-”
“Don’t bother,” Candice growled, swatting the assistant’s hand away. Her eyes glinted darkly. “We’re going to Farrow
Corporation.”
Candice knocked on the door and called out sweetly, “Justin.”
Then, she walked in, wearing a hat to cover the mess Serena had made, but her smile did not waver.
Justin looked up from his desk, his expression indifferent. “What are you doing here? Didn’t you say you were done with the
office and wanted to start your own business?”
“I missed you,” she purred, placing a small cake on his desk. “I brought you something.”
“No thanks,” Justin replied flatly. “I don’t like desserts.”
“Really? But I saw cream in your fridge the other day,” Candice said with a playful smile.
“I threw it out,” he replied, his tone as cold as ever.
He did not bother explaining further, but the truth was simple. He never cared for sweets–those were Serena’s. She had brought
them over, and they had stayed in his fridge, untouched.
