Chapter 16
Serena’s ears burned with heat, and her fingertips nervously clutched Wilson’s sleeve. Wilson patted her head gently as a gesture meant to reassure her.
“Don’t worry. I’m going to step out and make a call,” he said as he took out his phone and dialed someone. It didn’t take long for the person to pick up.
Willow Quade’s surprised voice came through. “Will? Why are you calling me?”
“Are you free right now?”
“I am,
but-
“Then come here,” Wilson interrupted. He explained briefly that Serena had been drugged, gave her the address, and told her to come immediately.
Once he finished, he turned and got back into the car. But the moment he opened the door, Wilson froze.
Serena had unbuttoned her blouse inside the car, revealing her slender neck. Her fingers absentmindedly tugged at her collar, and one of her bra straps had slipped off her shoulder.
Wilson stepped in, shut the door, and grabbed her restless hand firmly. Just then, Serena turned her head, her gaze locked on his deep, captivating eyes.
“Button up your shirt,” he said.
Serena blinked at him and was stunned before she quickly realized what he meant. She tugged her collar back into place as her
already flushed checks turned even redder.
Although she tried to hold herself together, the effects of the drug clouded her mind. Every thought was tinted with inappropriate
imagery
The hand gripping her wrist had long fingers and was so strong. Her eyes followed it up to Wilson. His flawless features and deep–set eyes gave him unparalleled handsomeness.
She couldn’t see much of his physique under the shirt, but the small glimpse of his muscular forearm suggested he was well-
The confined space of the car was filled with the faint woody scent of his cologne, mixed with a subtle hint of tobacco, which only made her more restless. Nonetheless, she wasn’t the only one struggling
Wilson’s grip on her hand tightened slightly, and tension radiated through his entire body. His blood was boiling. For a fleeting moment, he wanted to shed his composed exterior, pull her into his arms, and lose himself entirely in her
When he finally spoke again, his voice sounded somewhat hoarse “Serena, I’m no saint. If you keep looking at me like that, I
can’t promise I won’t do something I’ll regret.”

Wilson’s words snapped her back to reality just enough to rein in her spiraling thoughts. “You won’t.”
Did she say he wouldn’t? She had such blind confidence in him.
“If you keep staring at me with those big eyes of yours, I might prove you wrong,” he muttered. Wilson then let go of her hand and rolled the window halfway down.
The cool night breeze blew in, clearing Serena’s hazy mind a little. Wilson averted his gaze from her and said, “Take us to Ellora Apartment.”
It wasn’t long before Willow arrived, carrying a medical kit. The two bodyguards stationed at the door immediately opened it for
her.
The apartment was spotless, and a faint, pleasant fragrance lingered in the air. This was clearly a woman’s space.
Wilson sat on a chair, dressed in a tailored black suit. He was holding an unlit cigarette between his fingers.
Willow walked in and placed the medical kit on the table. “Will, what’s going on? Who got drugged?”
Wilson didn’t answer immediately. He glanced at his watch instead. “You got here quickly,” he remarked.
Willow pressed on. “Did you get a girlfriend?”
“No. She’s my subordinate.”
“Your subordinate? What kind of subordinate got you this concerned? Do you take me for a child?”
