Chapter 10
“Serena?” Arthur Collinsworth pushed his gold–rimmed glasses up, thinking he must have seen it wrong.
Just as he was about to confirm, his phone rang.
Joseph’s voice came through. “Where are you, Arthur? We’ve been waiting for you for ages!”
“I’m coming.”
Arthur hung up and headed straight for the luxurious private room on the second floor. A few people were already there waiting
His brother Joseph, Justin’s sister Mollie Farrow, and Justin were all there. Next to Justin was a petite young woman.
Arthur casually tossed his suit jacket onto the couch. “Why isn’t Serena here?”
The mood in the room instantly froze.
Justin spoke up coldly, “She quit. She’s no longer associated with Farrow Corporation.”
“Did you two break up?” Arthur asked.
“We were never together.” Justin’s face darkened. He then pulled Candice closer, “This is my girlfriend, Candice Ashton.”
Candice smiled gently. “Nice to meet you all.”
Arthur barely acknowledged her, continuing, “Serena’s been with us for so long. Even if she’s left the company, she’s still a friend. You should have called her.”
Mollie couldn’t hold back. “What friend, Arthur? She’s just the daughter of a maid. If it weren’t for Justin’s connections, would she even be in our circle? Besides, an ingrate like her should’ve been dumped ages ago!”
“Did something happen?”
“Mom called me, saying she was sick and wanted Serena to make her bone broth. Do you know what Serena said? She said she has left Farrow Corporation and has nothing to do with our family anymore!”
Joseph frowned. “Well, technically, she’s right. She had a complete falling out with Justin. If she came crawling back now, it
would be really awkward.”
“That’s not Serena. She’s like a dog in front of Justin. After every tantrum, she always came back, begging for forgiveness. She’s just acting now,” Mollie scoffed, rolling her eyes.
She then turned to Justin. “Justin, don’t forgive her so easily this time. She should apologize to Mom first.”
“Are you done?” Justin slammed his glass onto the table. “If you are, shut up. I brought all of you here to meet Candice, not to keep talking about Serena ”
“It’s fine, Justin I’m really happy to meet everyone,” Candice said with a warin smile

Mollie Immediately fell silent. She glanced at Candice and turned her eyes away with disdain.
Although she disliked Serena, she disliked Candice even more. Her background and abilities were nothing impressive, and she was nowhere near as pretty as Serena. What made her think she could be Justin’s girlfriend?
Arthur picked up his wine glass. “Looks like you really have cut ties with Serena.”
“Of course,” Justin said.
“Well, no wonder. I just saw Serena downstairs chatting happily with some hot young guy from the club. I was quite surprised to
see her like that.”
The moment the words left his mouth, Justin stiffened. “You saw her?”
“Not clearly, but I doubt I’m mistaken.”
Justin suddenly stood up and headed for the door.
Candice was stunned for a moment, then hurried to follow.
“Where are you going, Justin?” Everyone in the room was stunned.
Joseph asked, “What’s going on?”
Arthur put down his glass. “We’ll find out when we go out.”
Serena was awkwardly trying to learn some drinking games with Lauren and the two young men when she suddenly felt a shadow looming over her. She looked up and met a pair of sharp eyes.
Justin smirked. “Serena, it’s only been a few days, and you seem to be really enjoying your life.”
Serena’s smile disappeared instantly.
Before she could respond, Lauren rushed forward protectively.

“What kind of luck do we have to run into you here? What now? Only you can cuddle up with your scheming girlfriend, and Rina
can’t have some fun with hot guys?”
Behind Justin, Mollie looked stunned. “It really is you, Serena. I knew you couldn’t let go of Justin. You planned for this ‘chance
meeting, didn’t you?”
Joseph scratched his head “Serena, are you trying to piss off Justin?”
Justin lowered his gaze, looking at Serena with a bemused expression. It was obvious he thought she was here to grab his
attention
Serena kept her expression neutral. “This club isn’t yours, Justin. You really think too highly of yourselt”

The young escort beside her, Mateo Perkins, leaned in. “Who’s this?”
“My ex–boss.”
“Oh, I see. I thought he was your boyfriend. Don’t worry about him. Let’s just have fun.” With that, Mateo casually draped his arm
over Serena’s shoulder.
Serena was feeling uncomfortable but smiled and nodded. “Okay,”
In her black mermaid dress, her exposed skin glowed. She radiated a calm and serene presence amidst the bustling club.
She didn’t even glance at Justin as she started walking away.
woman. I would have dumped
Justin narrowed his eyes, an unfamiliar irritation building up. “If I’d known you were such an easy woman,
you sooner.”
Serena turned around. “What did you say?”
“You should be more careful, Serena. Don’t you worry about getting sick?”
Before she could respond, Mateo’s face turned grim. “Watch your mouth!”
“What are you, huh? Get lost!” Justin shouted.
Mateo, clearly furious, swung a punch at Justin.
Justin stepped back a little, then tightened his fist and slammed it into Mateo’s stomach.
Having studied karate, Justin easily took Mateo down. The latter collapsed to the ground, clutching his abdomen.
“Are you okay?” Serena crouched down. Just as she was about to help him up, Justin yanked her roughly by the wrist, pulling her
- up.
He looked at her with a mocking look in his eyes. “Feeling sorry for him? He’s just an escort. Why would you care?”
“Let go of Rina!” Noticing the situation escalate, Lauren shouted and grabbed an ashtray from the table to throw at Justin’s head.
Joseph quickly caught her arm. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Let go of me, or I’ll crack your skull open!”
Amid the chaos, the crowd on the first floor was suddenly dispersed. A group of people walked out.
Wilson, dressed in a black silk shirt, led the way. He had one hand in his pocket and the other holding a cigarette.
His sharp features were almost unreal His eyes, however, carried an unmistakable air of dominance.
Fie slightly tilted his head and spoke to the man beside him, “Jacob, if I’d known there was such a commotion here, I would’ve
come earlier.”

Jacob Smith stepped forward. “What a coincidence, Justin. Why are you so upset? Did my people treat you poorly?”
Justin’s face was cold. “It’s a private matter.” As he spoke, he grabbed Serena again, intending to take her out to settle things. But an arm blocked his path. A man standing beside Wilson, clearly a bodyguard, stepped in his way.
“What’s this about?” Justin frowned.
Wilson calmly flicked his cigarette, then bent down to light it. His voice was low but clear as he said, “Let go of
her.”
