Chapter 14

Just as Maddalena was hesitating, Emilio’s footsteps came to a halt.

“Go in and rest, you’ve been busy all day and you’re tired. Get some rest early.” He had no intention of going in, and stood outside the door with discretion. “I had someone tidy up the guest room, I’ll sleep there tonight.”

Their eyes met, his dark gaze causing Maddalena to catch her breath. She nodded and closed the door.

After washing up, she went straight to bed. The sheets were not new, but they carried a fresh scént of detergent. It was a faint cedar smell, just like the scent on Emilio’s body.

This unfamiliar atmosphere made her feel a bit uncomfortable, yet strangely at ease. Gradually, drowsiness quickly

set in.

The next morning, Maddalena and Emilio arrived at the bridal shop as planned.

Their scheduled wedding date was approaching, and everything needed to start getting prepared.

Emilio had already contacted the designer and recommended several wedding dresses suitable for Maddalena based on her figure and temperament.

The pure white fishtail wedding dress was worn by Maddalena, outlining her perfect figure. The white woven silver yarn skirt scattered on the side, as if a Milky Way had fallen at her feet.

Maddalena stood there like this, attracting everyone’s attention. Radiant, beautiful. It was the treasure he had long coveted.

This wedding dress was like it was tailor-made for her.

Emilio looked at Maddalena in front of him, raising his eyebrows slightly.

“Very beautiful,” he exclaimed sincerely, with a hint of gentleness and admiration in his expression that he himself didn’t even notice.

Maddalena looked at herself in the mirror, feeling a bit dazed. She had never imagined that one day she would be wearing a wedding dress and marrying a man who was not Silvano.

Their eyes met unexpectedly at that moment. They didn’t even notice someone next to them taking a picture with a phone.

Jake Garrison also did not expect that he would run into Maddalena while out shopping. And she was with another

man.

The two of them were actually trying on wedding dresses! But wasn’t Maddalena supposed to marry Silvano?

He took a photo and immediately called Silvano.

“Brother, what’s going on? Wasn’t Maddalena supposed to marry you? Why is she choosing wedding dresses with an- other man?”

“What did you say? Silvano sat up suddenly from the sofa, the liquid in his glass sloshed around, spilling a few drops onto his hand.”

“I saw it with my own eyes, Maddalena and that man looked very close, Silvano, Maddalena wouldn’t be cheating on you, would she?”

After he said this, he quickly denied his own thoughts.

“Phew! Didn’t Maddalena love you to death? How could she possibly cuckold you? Could it be that she wants to force you to marry her by wearing a wedding dress directly?”

Jake was about to continue, but he was interrupted by Silvano before he could voice his supposedly most reasonable

guess.

“Address!” He asked aggressively, which startled Jake on the other end of the phone.

Jake turned around to see that Maddalena’s figure was already gone from the bridal shop.

“Why are you in such a hurry? The person has already left.”

Upon hearing this news, Silvano immediately dropped his phone. His face was dark and terrifying, as he turned to look at the bodyguard following beside him.

“Why didn’t you tell me when Grandpa passed away?”

His face looked like he was going to eat someone, and the bodyguards looked at each other, not daring to look direct- ly into his eyes. It was a while before someone spoke.

“I was going to notify you at that time, but Ms. Moroni called and said there was an urgent matter for you to attend to, so you…”

Silvano’s face grew even darker.

The bodyguard continued nervously, “Before the incident, Ms. Albergo also called you…”

“But at that time, it seems that Ms. Moroni answered the phone, we didn’t receive your message and didn’t dare to let Ms. Albergo go out, that’s why she cut herself.” The bodyguard’s voice became quieter and almost inaudible.

Silvano seemed to be struck by lightning, standing there in a daze.
