After three rounds of wine, Maddalena discreetly tugged at Emilio’s sleeve, her voice barely audible.

“Is there a restroom here? I need to go to the restroom.”

Emilio looked down and saw the slender fingers hooked onto the hem of his clothes, causing a slight stir in his heart.

“The bathroom was on the right.”

Maddalena felt a little embarrassed, so she quickly slipped into the bathroom while no one was paying attention.

But as soon as she entered the bathroom, the phone placed on the table started buzzing like crazy. The ringtone kept coming one after another, with a sense of urgency.

Looking at the note above, Emilio’s expression darkened slightly as he answered the phone, “Hello.”

On the other end of the phone, Silvano’s voice was low and deep, “Who are you? Where is Maddalena?”

He was almost impatient to speak.

Emilio said calmly, “I was her husband, may I ask who you are?”

Husband? A loud explosion went off in Silvano’s mind.

Maddalena really got married! With whom? When? Why does he not know anything about it?

Anger, shock, confusion, and various emotions intertwined, almost drowning him.

Maddalena came out of the bathroom and saw Emilio holding her phone, his face slightly changing.

Emilio motioned for her to come over, “Maddy, you had a phone call.”

She walked quickly over, took the phone and walked outside the box, “Silvano?”

Upon hearing Maddalena’s voice, Silvano couldn’t hold back any longer. “Where have you been? Why didn’t you an- swer the phone? And who is that man? Did you really marry him? Are you out of your mind?”

He couldn’t help but question, his voice tinged with a hint of grievance.

Maddalena fell silent for a moment before answering, “Silvano, we are over.”

“End? Who said it’s the end? I disagree! Silvano’s voice was almost a roar.”

He spoke in a strong tone, with a domineering attitude that brooked no interference.

“Silvano, I have been by your side for over a decade, and what have I waited for? I am tired, she had given up every- thing she once had and did not want to continue entangling herself in this matter.”

Her words quickly silenced Silvano on the other end of the phone.

“Maddalena, I’m sorry, please come back.”

Silvano’s voice softened, with a hint of pleading, “You come back, we get married, fulfill Grandpa’s wish.”

Maddalena’s fingers tightened slightly around the phone, her heart stinging a little. “Silvano, I am already married, and my grandfather has passed away. What’s the point of saying these things now?”

“I don’t believe it!” Silvano thought Maddalena must be sulking. “I will never believe it unless I see it with my own eyes!”

They were perfectly fine, how could Maddalena possibly have gotten married to someone else at the drop of a hat?

“Believe it or not, don’t call me again in the future.”

She finished speaking and hung up the phone without hesitation.

Then she decisively took out the SIM card and broke it in half, and threw it directly into the trash can.

As soon as she turned around, I saw Emilio right beside me.

“You-”

Maddalena’s eye sockets were slightly red, she didn’t know how much Emilio had heard. There was a hint of unease on her face.

Maddalena thought Emilio would ask about it, but the next second, she was pulled into a wide, warm embrace.

Some dull sounds rang out above their heads.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know your grandfather passed away. We don’t have to rush our wedding, or if you need some time to heal, we can definitely postpone the wedding.”

Upon hearing these words, Maddalena’s heart trembled slightly. She buried her head in Emilio’s chest, tightly grip- ping his clothes. The tears that she had been holding back finally fell.

Watching Maddalena’s shoulders trembling constantly, Emilio gently embraced her in his arms. He did not speak, but his actions provided Maddalena with the greatest comfort.

After calming down her emotions, Maddalena finally left Emilio’s embrace.

She lowered her head and her voice sounded a bit muffled.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t control my emotions well. The wedding doesn’t need to be postponed. I brought my grandfather’s ashes.”

Emilio looked at Maddalena, who was pretending to be strong, and didn’t say anything more.

Emilio said goodbye to his friends at the private room and decided to take Maddalena home first.

Looking at the master bedroom in front of her, she sneakily glanced at Emilio in front of her, feeling nervous.

“Do we have to live together on the first day?”
