Chapter 4
She was still full of herself, making no effort to hide who she was.
She directly asked me, “Naomi, do you know who I am? ”
“Should I know?”
Maybe I seemed too calm, which made Selena upset. She sent me a few videos.
The sounds of a woman’s soft moans and a man groaning came from the phone.
Selena’s moans grew louder, and Colin sounded completely caught up in it, whispering, “Selena, you’re amazing… This feels incredible…”
I shut my eyes, trying to fight the nausea rising inside me.
But Selena’s provocations continued.
“Drop the act. If you didn’t know who I was, you wouldn’t have locked yourself in the bathroom crying. Colin hasn’t touched you once in three years of marriage. He must truly hate you.
“What was it like with those thugs? Did you enjoy it?
“No matter what I’ve done, Colin still loves me. So, what if you’re the real daughter? I still beat you!”
Sweat ran down my forehead, and my stomach throbbed like it had been crushed. I bit my lips tightly, using every bit of strength I had to call Colin.
“Colin… It hurts…”
Chapter 4
The call never went through. When I opened my eyes again, morning had
come.
Everything was silent. No one was around.
Because of my neurasthenia, I couldn’t handle noise while sleeping.
So, Colin bought the house next door, and the maids stayed there at night to avoid disturbing me.
My throat was dry, and I needed some water.
But as I tried to stand, my legs gave out, and I nearly collapsed. A pair of strong arms caught me just in time, holding me steady.
“What’s going on? You’ve lost weight. Have you been skipping meals?”
Colin had returned at some point. He looked well–rested, clearly enjoying his night out.
I didn’t respond. I just stared at him.
He seemed puzzled by my gaze, then chuckled, “What are you looking at? Go get ready. We’re heading to the Sullivan’s residence for your mom’s birthday.”
Colin sounded cheerful as he opened the wardrobe to help me pick out
clothes.
But when he noticed how empty it was, he was stunned, “Where are your clothes? Why’s there barely anything left?”
“I donated them,” I said flatly, meeting his eyes with a cold look.
He looked surprised, but he soon smiled and gently ruffled my hair, “It’s fine. I’ll have someone bring new ones.”
As he reached for his phone, I gently stopped him, “No need. I won’t get a

chance to wear them.”
Colin seemed to take it the wrong way and kept looking at his phone. “Alright, next time you can choose what you like.”
I said nothing more.
Just then, his phone rang. He glanced at me, then stepped outside to take the call. But his voice still carried over.
“Come on, don’t be like that. You can’t be seen today.
“I’ll come by tonight. Don’t cause a scene.
“Buy whatever you want, just remember–don’t show up at the Sullivan’s residence today.”
As soon as he ended the call and turned around, he saw me standing nearby.
His expression instantly changed, and he rushed over to take my hand.
“Why are you out here? It’s chilly–go grab a jacket.”
I gently pulled away, smoothed my dress, and took a few steps forward.
“I’m ready. Let’s go.”
