Chapter Six
Not being able to take the pain lodged in my chest at the abandonment, my brain vehemently refused to believe the words in the mirror. It was just a ruse to get my attention. I stood up from the bathroom floor and dashed into the room. I opened the closet to find most of her stuff was gone.
Feeling frustrated, I plopped down on the bed, my hands holding my head, and my eyes caught sight of a document on my bedside table. Maybe it was a letter explaining all this and apologizing as usual, I grabbed the document, and my heart froze for a second.
They were divorce papers, my hands shook violently as I flipped through to the last page. Her signature was evident, it didn’t look forged or like it was made under duress.}
This was all real, my darling wife had left me. I threw the document angrily against the wall and pivoted up my phone,ne dialing her number frantically,l, y but I was blocked.

Maybe the staff had something to do with this; hopping off the bed, I ran downstairs. “Beltrum!” I called for butler.
The old man scurried my way, “Sir.“}
I massaged my te, miles hoping it’ll help with the tension, “Where the fuck is my wife, huh? Are you helping her play this silly game too? You’re in on this aren’t you?“}
I could only imagine how hysterical I looked accusing my butler but I was damn desperate.
The old man’s eyes widened in shock, “Sir… I have no idea about what you’re talking about; your wife packed a box and left the mansion without a word. I assumed you knew where she was headed.“}
“Shit,” I muttered under my breath. My heart couldn’t just believe Celestina would walk away from me like that, she loved me deeply. Could this be a game put on by Alexandria? I told her to be patient and let me handle this. Could she have gotten impatient and kidnapped Celestina, faking this all?
But that wasn’t like Alexandria, Celestina was the manipulative one.
“Sir, are you okay? You seem a bit flushed.” My butler said his eyes full of concern.}
“I’m fine, you may leave.” He gave me one last cautious look and left.
I have to find out where Celestina is before this gets disastrous. I can still explain my way out of this, first I had to find out how much she knows.
I can’t spend the night here, everything here was reminding me of Celestina. By now, she’d have had a hot meal for me on the table, asked about my day, and given me a massage even with her mental state.
She still found ways of making Ime feel loved and important. Unable to take the pain of the memories, I drove back to Alexandrina’s place.
Just as I parked the car, Alexandria’s father came out angrily, “It’s all your fault she cut us off because you couldn’t keep it in your pants. You seduced Alexandria and got her pregnant; shehe probably found out about it and answered the repercussions.“}
If he wasn’t an older man I’d have given him a blow straight in the chin. If I remember correctly, Alexandrian seduced me and fed me pathetic stories about how Celestina made her life a living hell.”
It was out of compassion and pity that led me to have a relationship with her.
“With due respect, don’t raise your voice at me. And stop the pretense. You’ve been aware of this relationship since day one. As a matter of fact, you and your wife encouraged it, so don’t you dare blame me. Celestina probably ran off too because she has a family who doesn’t care.”
He gasped and looked even more enraged; in a split second, he punched my face.
I heard Alexandrian scream and the sounds of her running toward us.
The blow made me bend, my vision went blurry, and I tried to steady it,t but it took a few seconds. I felt Alexandrian touch my shoulder.” “Are you okay? Dad how could you hit him.“@
“Shut up Alexandrian, you two fix this.“}
I raised my head gently to see him walk away; I clenched my fist in anger, my fingers digging into my palm.}
“Please, I’m sorry about what my Dad did. He is just mad and looking for who to take his anger out on.“}
I jerked her touch off me, for the first time feeling replaced by her touch. Celestina would not have allowed her father to disrespect me like that; she always protected me from her family.”
Alexandrian was still trying to maintain her family’s favor; the scales had just fallen from my eyes.
Celestina was right all along about her family, they were selfish and only cared about money.
Alexandrian looked hurt, but I was way past bending over and beyond just to make her happy.}
“Baby, you’ve never rejected my touch, is this because of Celestina.“}
I didn’t answer, I walked away to my car and drove off to a hotel.
