Chapter 25%
I gave the last push and it was successful. I held my little bundles of joy in my hands. We named them Mia and Gia.”
The first few weeks were difficult for me to adjust, the babies kept fussing.}
I felt a sense of loss without my mother, and my heart sank. My mother would have known exactly what to do to help me and kept me sane. I had heard of postpartum depression before but never thought I’d experience it, despite Baron’s support and the help he hired.” It didn’t seem to do the trick.
Day by day went by, and I felt like I was sinking deeper into the postpartum feeling; Baron offered constant encouragement and even started working from home to take care of me and the girls personally.
But it continued.§
Baron’s parents stepped in on a bright sunny day. His mother said, “I think you and my son should take a long vacation. I want you to get your spark back; we’ll take very good care of Mia and Gia.“}
Tears of gratitude sprang to my eyes, “Thank you so much.“>
Baron’s mother wiped my eyes, “You are my daughter, and I would do everything to make you and my son happy.”}
I held my babies, kissing them the morning of my first trip to a foreign country to begin the vacation.
Baron held me by the waist behind, “We’ll be back soon, girls; your mummy and I just need a vacation.” He cooed to our girls, and they giggled and laughed as they understood what he said.§
My girls were beautiful; they already had a good crop of hair and rosy cheeks complimenting their gorgeous eyes.
With one last kiss, I handed them over to their grandparents.
Baron took me on several trips around the world; him being a billionaire made us have automatic passports and easy entry.
I experienced things in the world that I never thought I would; I met important people around the world, presidents and royalties.
We only came home occasionally going back and forth for two years. Myself and Baron made several video calls.
By the time we came back permanently, ready to settle down. I was completely over any form of postpartum feelings.}
We came back to meet a huge party, also Mia and Gia’s birthday party; when I saw Mia and Gia dressed in their pink dresses and tiaras, I froze.B
It was Baron who dared to approach them in a squatted position. Gia and Mia shyly went to him; they froze for a minute,, to,o, probably trying to place where they had seen us before.
“Daddy?” Mia said in question and Baron nodded. Gia was faster and quickly went into his hands followed by Gia.
I approached them tentatively, and they hugged me,e screaming, Mummy!” In their babyish voices. I didn’t even realize when tears of joy spilled down my cheeks.
We embraced as a family. The party went on with a blast, and later on, we took a family portrait and several other people, including my Dad.g
The portraits were hung in the living room of our new family mansion. I stood side by side with Baron admiring our daughters as they played with their toys. Baron pulled me into his hands nuzzling my neck
The atmosphere was surreal and joyful. I couldn’t believe my luck watching my children; I shuddered, remembering my past and how, for five years, I had begged Jason for kids only for him to deny me the chance.
I felt so grateful to God that I met Baron when I did; I’m even more grateful for him not giving up on me despite the trials.
With his help, I managed to keep my mother’s company running in consistent profit. It was fast becoming the leading company in the business world.
“You’re the best thing that has ever happened to me, Celestina,” he said, his voice thick with emotion.
I turned to him and kissed him firmly, “And you are the best thing in my life too.”
I leaned my head on his chest, looking out the window to the sky; I was sure my mother would be proud of me looking from heaven. My new life is absolutely beautiful.!
