My phone beeped again, and I checked the message with anticipation, only for my heart to almost stop reading the message.
The message I saw was from my friend Darren. Apparently, GreenTech company was a big scammer, and he just wasted millions investing and partnering with them. As soon as he transferred the funds they absconded into thin air.”
My fingers became as cold as ice, and Darren was demanding a refund from me. Making that refund would surely leave me bankrupt. And if I refused, Darren was ruthless enough to sue me till even the clothes on my back would be used as a refund.}
I felt dizzy and my body shook violently. Could this have been Baron’s plan all along?}
I heard a commotion going on in the compound; looking through my window, I could see several police officers; my security men were trying to hold them off.”
One of the police officers took a mega phone and said, “Jason Micheal, I know you’re in there. Surrender yourself; you’re being wanted for the attempted murder of Baron Simon.“}
I felt frozen to the wherepot I stood, all the blood drained from my face. I guess the jig was up, but I can’t just let Baron win like that.” With a sudden surge of urgency and speed, I grabbed my wallet and passport, desperately searching for the stash of emergency cash l kept hidden. Grabbing that, I ran downstairs and took the secret route that led to a sewer that existed at an unknown spot in the main city. What I was going to hit Baron with this next time would surely make him pay. I’m not going to go down alone.”
Located a boutique and changed into a disguise. I went to a public restaurant downtown and ordered a meal.
My head tumed sharply to the TV when I heard my name; my picture was on the screen with a reward for anyone who brought me in.
I clenched my teeth in anger, “Baron.” I whisper under my breath. I signal the waiter and pay, I out of here before I’m discovered.”
Celestina’s Pov
Baron was out of the house making last–minute preparations for our wedding tomorrow.
I was still worried that Jason was yet to be found, although the authorities promised that they were on it and he was likely to remain in hiding.
“Babe you’re overthinking again.” I smiled as Baron’s hands came around me.
I chuckle, “I didn’t even hear you come in.”}
He nuzzled my neck, “What’s on your mind, pretty lady.” Unlike Jason, Baron complimented me at every single opportunity he got.
I sighed, “I’m just worried. Your life was put in danger because of me, and Jason is yet to be found.“}
He kissed the nape of my neck, “I’m actually flattered by this worry, don’t worry about it. We’re getting married tomorrow.“}}
I couldn’t help but smile in excitement. Baron is the man of my dreams and I couldn’t wait to start a family with him.
Out of pity, I decided to reach out and invite my Dad to the wedding. Baron talked me out of the bitterness I was feeling. We had gone to
my mum’s grave together with fresh flowers, and I told her her killer was now facing justice.}
Standing there then, I felt something unfurl in my chest and I knew my mother wanted me to let go and forgive my father.}
Baron took care of everything, because Jason was still out there uncaught. We sent a decoy vehicle ahead, and as anticipated, it was shot at; the police were able to capture the men who perpetuated it, and they confessed Jason sent them.§
But he was still nowhere to be found.”
Although he was still on the loose, security was tight, and I felt no fear. We finally got to the wedding reception which was exquisitely decorated.”
The venue was beautiful with soft pastel colors and bright golden lights and decor. All the flowers were fresh and colorful; I couldn’t help but shed a tear as I walked down the aisle to meet Baron, who was dressed impeccably in a black tux.
When I reached his side, I caught him wiping a tear or two. I opted for a simple joining at the wedding venue since I was already pregnant.2
