Baron’s Pov
Celestina nodded thoughtfully, “I think I should talk to them both directly and put an end to this madness. Could you set up a meeting in a secure environment?”
I nodded, “I can help you with that, but I have to be there personally to protect you.”
Celestina smiles and I hold her hand reassuringly. A silent promise that I’ll be here forever and I won’t let go.N
Suddenly, her expression changed to a pained one; she gripped her belly in pain and shrieked.
I swing into action, picking her up and rushing her to the hospital just in time; the doctor said it was a miracle she didn’t lose the baby.
1 clenched my fist in anger and called the head security man in my mansion, “Lock the house down and check the footage for any suspicious person or activity.”
The doctor examined Celestina and gave me a reassuring look, “You brought her right in time; she and the baby are going to be perfectly fine.”
I breathed easily after his statement. Whoever was responsible for this is going to pay so dearly.
Celestina’s Pov
I woke up after losing consciousness to the sound of a hospital machine beeping. My blurry vision steadied, and I saw Baron seated next to me, his head bent, holding my hand.

“You’re in perfect health, but please, since this is the early stage of pregnancy, I’ll advise you to protect yourself and the baby more. A poison was found in your system if your husband didn’t bring you in at the time he did…”
“I was poisoned!” I said in shock my eyes widened like saucers.
Baron’s expression was cold and enraged, “Thank you, doctor.” The doctor nodded and left. Baron turned to me, “I checked the footage and found out one of the maids snuck an unknown powder into your drink; luckily, you barely drank it.“}
I could see something else in his expression, guilt.
“You didn’t fail to protect me; if not for you I don’t think, I and the baby would have made it.“N
Baron nodded his head, his fist clenched so tightly his knuckles were white, “I arrested the maid, and you wouldn’t believe it was your stepmother disguised as a maid. I don’t know how she slipped into the mansion as one of the staff.“N
My hands felt cold instantly, “Has she been arrested?”
Baron nodded, “That’s not all, she angrily made a confession, I don’t know if you’re ready to hear this.” He said compassionately his expression softening.

“The same poison she tried to use in you was the same one she kept slipping into your mother’s food through a worker in small doses. It eventually made her very sick and became undetectable.”
I heard ringing in my ear, as though a glass, metal bottle had just broken. Tears blinded my vision, so my mum was murdered after all. Baron thumbed my tears away and held me, “Your mum will get justice, Angela is already in police custody.”
I buried myself deeper into Baron’s embrace, unable to stop the flow of tears.
I few hours later Baron had managed to comfort me and I felt a lot better and stronger to go back home. Against the doctors warning and Baron’s reluctance. I insisted on visiting Angela in police custody, just so I could spit in her face and show her that I’m well alive and well. Angela’s eyes widened in shock when I walked to her cell, her expression quickly turned to one of hate and contempt.
“You’re supposed to be dead! You and that bastard you carry.” I couldn’t resist before the officer could stop me I stretched my hand into the cell through the iron bars and slapped her. She walked back in surprise.}}
“Never in your pathetic life, speak about my baby. You’ll get what you deserve you murderer. Now I know my mother can rest in peace, you’ll rot in jail for your crime.”%
Angela broke into tears kicking and screaming hysterically, I took steps backwards from the cell. Thinking for my safety and that of my baby’s.
“Lets get out of here please, you need to rest. Baron says in a worried tone.
I nodded softly. “Say me hi to your bitch daughter when you get locked up in prison.” I smriked darkly and let Baron take me back home.
