Chapter Sixteen!
Jake’s Pov
Three days passed in a blur and I had no choice but to forward the voice recording of Alexandrian to the police officer investigating me and my lawyer.
I had started getting threats from people on social media. I wasn’t about to die or go to jail for Alexandrina’s crime, I also posted it on the media.
But it didn’t even douse down the heat from commenters, countless comments poured in.}
‘so he is even a cheat, useless man.’
‘He got his inlaw pregnant, he is so shameless.
‘what a despicable man.‘>
But sincerely this time, I didn’t care as much as long as I didn’t have to end up in jail.}
The police turned on Alexandrian, and her mother called me countlessly, but I refused to pick her up. I was done with their family drained me, and out of pity, I still made sure Mr Brown’s hospital bills were paid.
On one of the court hearings to determine Alexandrian’s and my guilt, a man suddenly bursts into the courtroom.
The security man immediately apprehends him, but the man won’t quiet down.”
We all turn our attention to him and he screams at the top of his voice.}
“I won’t let you give my baby to this sterile man.” Everyone looks at me in shock.
Alexandrian’s eyes are wide open, “Marcus, stop this; I’ve paid you enough money. Why would you break our agreement.“}
My heart sank to the pit of my stomach, so the baby was never even mine to begin with. Alexandrian gives me a pleading but guilty look. “I’m sick of the pretense. I won’t let you give my child to another man just because he is richer than me. Just know I’ll fight you till the end for that baby.” Marcus says as he is dragged out.
The court was murmured, and the judge hit the hammer.}
“Order in my court.”
I managed to sit through the rest of the court sitting, and luckily for me, I was exonerated, but Alexandrian was not.
Alexandrian tried reaching out to me to explain several times but I cut her off. She had hurt and deceived me.”
My main aim now was to get back with my wife and restart my life.
I reached out to her for days, sending her countless messages and voicemails with no response. She had gone totally MIA. But the only response I got on a cold night was a mail from her lawyer, I opened it to see it was the divorce certificate.
I begged him to give me a link to her even if it was her current address but he shuned me. Days turned into months and I stopped caring about my health.
I spent my days eating my grief away, I didn’t try to apply for new jobs. The few I had tried to apply for prior told me I was unhireable due to my tarnished image. It’s now clear that my name was blacklisted in every reputable organization.}
Months turned to a year and now I couldn’t even fit into any of my clothes. I had doubled my weight, and due to the stress and constant stalking the Internet to find Celestina, I have developed a receding hairline.”
My once glossy and full hair was now thinning due to my poor diet. Today, I pushed myself to go to the grocery store, and some children snickered at me.}
I heard one say, ‘he looks like a vampire.‘ I didn’t blame them, I looked terribly pale due to all the months I had stayed home.
I quickly paid for what I bought and went back home, only to meet my mother in the living room.
She bursts into tears at seeing me, “What have you done to yourself, son? You don’t look like the Jason I know at all.“}
I hug her, trying to comfort her, but find myself crying too. When she manages to calm me down, she makes a good home meal,l and I manage to eat it. Although delicious, it tastes like chalk to me.
My mum takes out her cell phone, “I don’t know if you’ve seen this; I don’t want you to take this the wrong way.“}
Intrigued I look at the screen to see the Celestina and some man standing together looking into each other’s eyes like they’ve found the world there.
My heart sank, I broke out a cold sweat, my head throbbed and I felt nauseous.
I felt my mother’s hand on my shoulder comforting me. “You can still win her back, son, but you have to get yourself in order. Rumor has it she’s coming back to rebrand a company, but you can’t let her see you this way she’ll be disappointed in you.”}
I felt jealous but excited still. At least maybe I could get a chance to see her finally and we’ll work things over. She is still
