Chapter 22
A month later, it was Seraphine’s birthday.
“Fina.”
Alistair’s voice came from behind her. She turned around and saw him holding a carved wooden box, walking towards her slowly.
“Happy birthday.”
Seraphine blinked, slightly surprised.
“How did you know today was my birthday?”
Alistair’s lips curved up, his fingers brushing her hair.
“Ten years ago, you mumbled in your sleep when you had a fever.”
Seraphine froze, then laughed.
“I actually told you that?”
“You’ve told me much more than thať.”
Alistair handed her the wooden box, his voice soft and tender. “Open it and see.”
Seraphine took the box and gently unlatched the copper clasp. When the lid opened, her breath caught in her throat.
Inside lay a white bracelet, delicately carved in the shape of a nine–petaled rose, with a bloodstone diamond embedded at the center. The faint glow of the stone shimmered in the moonlight.
“This is…”
“House Frost’s ancestral Snow Rose Heart Bracelet.” Alistair’s voice was low, almost a whisper. “When House Frost was destroyed, I risked my life to bring it out of the fire.”
Seraphine’s fingertips trembled as she gently stroked the hairpin, as if touching a distant memory.
“You’ve kept it all this time?”
“Yes.” Alistair lowered his eyes, his voice hoarse. “All these years, I’ve been waiting for the person who could return it to you.”
Seraphine’s eyes moistened. She looked up at him.
“And now?”
Alistair smiled softly and lifted his hand to gently caress her cheek.
“Now, I want to put it on you myself.”
He took the bracelet, his fingers softly brushing her wrist as he placed it there.
Under the moonlight, Seraphine’s features were as beautiful as a painting, the bloodstone diamond glowing against her skin, like a red rose blossoming in
the snow.
Alistair gazed at her, his eyes darkening.
“Does it look good?” She asked.
“It looks good.” His voice was husky. “Better than I imagined.”
Seraphine smiled and was about to say something when suddenly, the sound of “whoosh-” broke the silence, the sound of something cutting through
the air.
She instinctively looked up and saw the night sky suddenly blossom into a brilliant firework.
Golden streaks of light fell like rain, illuminating the entire valley.
Then, the second, third, and many more fireworks exploded in the sky, dazzling and magnificent.
Seraphine stared at the sky, momentarily speechless.
“Do you like it?”

Alistair’s arms gently wrapped around her waist from behind, his chin resting on her shoulder.
“When did you prepare this?” she asked softly.
“Since the day you woke up,” he laughed softly. “I ordered the finest fireworks from across the world, just for tonight.”
Seraphine turned to face him, looking up at him as the light of the fireworks reflected in his eyes, as if filled with stars.
“Alistair,” she called softly.
“Mm?”
“I want to kiss you.”
Alistair’s gaze darkened, and he smiled low. “I’ve been waiting for that.”
Before he could finish, Seraphine stood on tiptoe and kissed his lips.
The fireworks continued to bloom, the stream of water gently flowing, fireflies surrounding the couple, as if the world only held them.
After a long while, the fireworks gradually faded. Seraphine leaned against Alistair’s chest, playing with a strand of his hair.
“Alistair.”
“Yes?”
“I really love you.”
He lowered his head and kissed her once
this time deeper, more lingering.
