Chapter 10
Valmont Keep.
Vivienne slammed the cup down on the floor.
“His study again? In three months of marriage, my lord has shared my bed fewer times than I have fingers!”
Her maid trembled as she cleaned up the shattered pieces.
“Your Highness, please calm down. Prince Valmont has indeed been very busy with state affairs lately.”
“State affairs?” Vivienne sneered. “He’s clearly looking for that wretch!”
She pulled open the hidden compartment of her vanity and took out a yellowed letter.
It was written in the handwriting of her father from eighteen years ago:
“[House Frost’s bloodline must be eradicated. Prince Valmont has agreed to cooperate. The operation will take place in three days.]”
Vivienne dug her nails deeply into her palm.
At that time, her father, as the Royal Physicus, had been tasked with assisting the Old Prince Valmont in the extermination of House Frost. Who would have thought that the youngest daughter of House Frost would end up at Valmont Keep, where Lucien kept her by his side for ten years!
“Seraphine!” Vivienne gritted her teeth. “You better die out there!”
Outside the Shadow Court.
Lucien’s army had been stationed at the foot of the mountain for three days.
“Your Highness, The Shadow Court is in a difficult location to attack. It might be too risky…” The deputy commander hesitated.
Lucien stood in front of the camp, gazing at the mist–covered mountain top.
These three days had passed in restless nights. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw the image of Seraphine, drenched in blood, leaving.
“Send another invitation,” his voice was hoarse. “Tell them that I request an audience”
The deputy commander looked up, astonished.
The mighty Prince Valmont had never used the word “request” before.
On the fourth morning, The Shadow Court finally responded.
“My lord grants you entry.”
Lucien’s heart skipped a beat. “Sera, she…?”
“Please follow me.”
The mountain path twisted and turned, and Lucien kept his hand on the hilt of his sword.
As they reached the middle of the mountain, a sudden scream echoed through the air.
“Ah–help!”
Lucien rushed forward and saw a man kneeling on the ground, covered in blood, begging for mercy. Standing before him was-
“Sera!”
Lucien blurted out.
The dark figure slowly turned.
Under the sunlight, Seraphine’s beauty was still as striking as ever, but there was no sign of the gentle demeanor she once had. Instead, her features were filled with an air of coldness and ruthlessness.
“Prince Valmont, long time no see,”
Her voice was soft, but it made Lucien feel as though he had fallen into an icy abyss.
The kneeling man suddenly lunged towards Lucien “Prince Valmont, help me! This demoness wants to kill me!”
Seraphine’s sword flashed, and the man’s left ear fell to the ground.

“The Elder of the Iron Veil, involved in the massacre of House Frost eighteen years ago,” she said, her sword tip pressing against the man’s back. “If I take your life today, do you have any objections?”
“Stop!” Lucien instinctively stepped forward.
Seraphine raised an eyebrow. “Prince Valmont, are you going to save him?”
“Justice must be served by the law,” Lucien replied coldly. “Even if he is guilty, it should be handled by the court.”
Seraphine suddenly smiled.
The smile was beautiful, yet chilling.
“Just like when they judged the entire House Frost, is that what you mean?”
Lucien’s face turned pale. “What are you saying?”
With a flash of swordlight, the Elder of the Iron Veil let out a scream that abruptly stopped.
Seraphine wiped the blood from her blade and locked her gaze with Lucien’s shocked eyes.
“Prince Valmont, your gauntlet died in that Judas Cradle.”
