Chapter 5
The next day after lunch, Seraphina went to the Blake family estate
She brought the vintage Cartier diamond necklace that Cassian’s mother had given her on their wedding day–supposedly a family heirloom passed down for generations.
Unfortunately, his parents had flown to Bali that morning for vacation. The place was empty.
The housekeeper said they wouldn’t be back for a month, so Seraphina left the jewelry with him and took off.
She treated herself to a spa appointment afterward, then swung by her favorite boutique and picked up a dozen new pairs of earrings.
The living room lights were on.
Cassian was sitting on the couch with a bunch of gift boxes piled on the coffee table.
When he heard her come in, he put down his phone and looked up.
“The housekeeper said you returned the heirloom?”
Seraphina just nodded.
Cassian sighed and moved to sit beside her. “Still mad at me? Come on, don’t be like this. Look at all these presents I got you. Can’t you forgive me just this once?”
Even when she returned his family’s heirloom–something that should’ve been a major red flag–his first thought was that she was just throwing a tantrum.]
Not that she wanted to cut all ties with him forever.
Because in his mind, she’d never leave. He was so damn sure she loved him too much to ever walk away.
That’s why he could be so reckless. Why he came up with that ridiculous “open marriage” bullshit. Why he kept parading other women around, breaking her heart over and over.
Seraphina glanced at the familiar logos on the boxes, and her eyes flashed with mockery.[]
“Anything I want has to be mine alone.”
Cassian was caught off guard that she somehow knew he’d bought Delilah the exact same gifts.]
“Sera, you’ve got it wrong. I really wanted to apologize, so I had Delilah help me pick things out. She liked them too, so I figured I’d just get an extra set. Don’t make a big deal out of nothing, okay?“[]
Nothing
She was so fucking sick of hearing those words.
Seraphina swept all the gifts off the table. “So you can buy endless copies of presents, and split your love into endless pieces too, right? Cassian, I just regret…“[]
Her eyes filled with tears.
Regret beleving you back then.]
Regret marrying you at all
Even though she didn’t finish, Cassian got the message. He couldn’t sit still anymore. He grabbed her hands.[]
“Sera, you have to know–you’re the only one in my heart. Otherwise I never would’ve married you. I just–need a few more years. Let me get this out of my system, and then I come back. I promise.”
Same meaningless bullifut as always
Serapina had no interest to hearing another word
She paded her hands free, her voice Bat
Then wall
Seeing her calm down, Cassian thought she waart med anymore. His face relazed as he picked up the scattered gift bags from the floor!
Sey apuna knew he completely used the priest of what she’d said, but she didn’t bother explaining She took the bags and headed upstairs
Let han think whatever he wanted
She was waiting for the divorce waiting period to end
Chapter 5
Not for him to come back.]
Seraphina’s birthday was coming up. Even though Cassian’s parents were overseas, they remembered their daughter–in–law’s special day and had a priceless diamond tiara flown in from Europe.
They’d sent it to Blake Industries headquarters.
Seraphina got the notification and considered calling them–maybe letting them know she and Cassian had already signed divorce papers. But they were on vacation, and she didn’t want to ruin their trip.[]
So she went to Blake Industries instead.[]
Her birthday gift was sitting in Cassian’s office. He was in a meeting, so she went in alone.[]
The second she opened the door, she saw that Delilah had already unwrapped the package and was wearing the stunning tiara on her head.[]
When Delilah spotted her, panic flashed across her face before she put on that scared little girl act.]
“Oh! Mrs. Blake, I didn’t know you’d be here.“]]
Seraphina didn’t bother playing games. She walked over and reached for the tiara.
“Taking back what’s mine.“]]
Delilah’s eyes flashed with jealousy and resentment. She gripped the tiara tighter, refusing to let go.
Oh, she really liked it. Really wanted it that bad?]]
Seraphina was about to let go when she saw Delilah deliberately press her finger against one of the sharp points.[]
Bright red blood welled up from her fingertip. She went limp and collapsed onto the couch.[]
Tears slid down her cheeks as she whimpered.[]
“Mrs. Blake, I just thought the tiara was pretty and wanted to admire it a little longer. Why did you have to hurt me like this?”
