Chapter 4
The slap hit hard. Seraphina’s cheek turned bright red instantly.]
She clutched her face, head spinning and ears ringing from the impact.
“What the hell, Delilah Brooks?!“]]
When the shock wore off, rage took over. Seraphina raised her hand to slap the bitch right back.
But before she could touch Delilah, Cassian grabbed her wrist mid–air.

He grabbed her tight, his voice cold with anger. “Sera, what’s wrong with you? Delilah didn’t do anything. Why are you trying to hit her?“]
Seraphina yanked her numb wrist back, voice shaking. “I’m trying to hit her? Cassian, ask anyone here–who hit who first!“]]
Delilah immediately put on her best victim face, eyes welling up with crocodile tears.
“Cassian, you said I was too timid and needed to be braver, right? So I thought… maybe if I slapped a CEO’s wife in public, it would help me build confidence? You know, like an exposure therapy kind of thing… But she’s so scary now, I’m terrified… wah!“[]
Cassian frowned after hearing her explanation. “I told you to be braver, not to hit someone!”
Especially not Seraphina![]
Delilah sniffled, tears streaming down her face like a broken faucet.
“I’m sorry, I’m just so stupid. You said she was sweet–tempered, so I thought if I slapped her, she wouldn’t get mad… but I was wrong…”
The moment she started crying, Cassian melted. He forgot all about being angry and started wiping her tears.
“Hey, it’s okay. Nobody’s blaming you. Don’t cry, baby.“]
Watching this shit show, Seraphina was furious and heartbroken. And then she couldn’t take it anymore.[]
“Cassian Blake, I’m the one who got slapped! You have no right to forgive her for me! And Delilah, cut the innocent act! Who the fuck slaps someone to build confidence?!“]]
Delilah flinched and started sobbing even harder, hyperventilating like she was about to pass out.
Cassian looked at her with pure concern, then dismissed Seraphina completely. “She’s just a young girl. How hard could her slap really be? Jésus, do you have to blow it up like this? Look, she’s crying herself sick with guilt. Sera, enough already.“]}]
With that, he scooped Delilah up and walked away.[]
Seraphina couldn’t believe what she’d just heard. She felt like she’d been thrown into an ice–cold pit.]
She didn’t even remember how she got home.[]
The whole ride back, she kept telling herself not to cry. But holding back the tears just made her eyes red and swollen.[]
When she walked through the door, the housekeeper saw the handprint on her face and freaked out. []
“Oh my God–Mrs. Blake, what happened? Did someone hurt you? I’m calling Mr. Blake right now. He’ll–“[]
“Don’t.” Seraphina cut her off
All her pain came from him anyway
She sat by the window with an ice pack for an hour. The swelling had barely gone down when her phone buzzed with a message from Delilah.]
“Hey. Mrs. Elsker just checking if you got home safe ? Im at the hospital now. Cassian was soooo worried about mecan you believe he booked out the entire VIP floor? Lax, te ductors checking on me at once 77
“By the way how’s your face? I feel londa bad I really didn’t mean to hit you that hard? Want me to share a doctor? The feeling generous. You know, just in case the hrase braves scar or something[]
Seraphina read it once, then forwarded the whole thing to Cassian)

“So protective, huh? Then why not marry her right now? I’ll step aside. Hell, I’ll even toast at your damn wedding.”
This time, he texted back immediately.
“Sera, don’t be like this again. I’ve told you a hundred times–you’re my wife. These other girls don’t matter. I’m just having fun. Don’t take it so seriously, okay? Get some sleep. I’ll come home tomorrow.”
Reading that message, Seraphina felt like throwing a punch at a wall of fucking marshmallows. Nothing landed. Nothing ever would.[]
She let out a bitter laugh. She was done with this pointless bullshit. []
So She turned off her phone and tossed it aside.[]
