Watching the way those two interacted–clearly more than just friends–Cassian felt a strong surge of disgust.
Just as he was about to ask Seraphina who this guy really was, her words threw him completely off balance.]
“I messed up, Sera. Please forgive me, okay? Give me one more chance. I swear I’ll never hurt you again. No more lies, no more cheating–you’re the only one I want, I mean it this time.“]
These earnest promises–Seraphina had heard a different version of them five years ago.]

Back then, when Cassian was pursuing her, he’d made the exact same vows.
Look how that turned out.
So seeing him make these promises to her face again, Seraphina just found it laughable.[]
“Why do you think I’d give up a completely free life to go back to that living hell of a marriage with you? And why do you think I’d give a lying, two–faced piece of shit a second chance? I’m not the Virgin Mary, and this isn’t a garbage recycling center. You’ve got the wrong person.“]
Cassian’s face turned ghost white with each word.[]
He couldn’t understand how things had gotten to this point.[]
His mind felt chaotic, regret and terror slowly eating away at what little
rationality he had left.
He wanted to explain himself. God, he needed to. But the second he tried to dig through the shit he’d done, all the excuses fell flat.
Silence thickened between them, heavy and suffocating.
Then a familiar voice came from the villa entrance.
“Cassian!”
It was Delilah.
Still weak from her illness, she came stumbling in and grabbed onto Cassian’s arm.
Seraphina’s eyes dropped to their joined hands.[]
And just like that, Cassian snapped out of it.[]

Delilah never expected to embarrass herself this badly in front of Seraphina.
She looked up angrily, but seeing Cassian’s cold stare and the smile that flashed across Seraphina’s lips.
She interpreted that smile as mocking revenge, and her anger burned hotter. []
So she did what she did best–started acting.
“Cassian, what’s wrong with you? Did Mrs. Blake say something to you again? Didn’t you promise me last time that you wouldn’t listen to one–sided stories? You said she’s just emotional and dramatic, and I should try to be patient. I listened to you-“]
“Shut the fuck up!“]
Her fake sweet talk was cut short when Cassian’s icy glare scared her into silence.[]
Watching these two perform their show, Seraphina found it entertaining and couldn’t help but comment.[]
“We’re already divorced anyway, so why stop her? I’m actually curious to know what kind of two faced, hypocrita piece of garbage the person I genuinely loved for five years really is
Catman’s eyes flew open wide in shock. He opened his mouth to speak, desperate to stop her from going any further-
But he was interrupted by Delilah’s shocked exclamation]
“Wait. You two are divorced?“]
Seraphina smiled and nodded, looking at the person collapsed on the ground with complete indifference
Yep. And no, we’re never getting back together. Congrats, Delilah. He’s all yours now.”

He looked at Seraphina with desperate eyes, only to see her calm smile.
That liberated smile hurt Cassian a hundred times more than her words.]
He was too ashamed to face her, too afraid to hear anything else that would be even harder to accept.
So he turned and stumbled off into the darkening evening.
Fleeing from this place of unbearable pain.[]
