Bang! Bang! Bang!
The pounding on the door was sharp and relentless.
Zayden put down the half peeled apple he was working on, glanced toward the bathroom where Seraphina was showering, and walked to the door.
The moment he opened it and saw Cassian’s anxious face, a flicker of amusement crossed Zayden’s eyes.[]
“Who are you?”
Cassian was so focused on finding Seraphina that he barely looked at the person in front of him, trying to push past into the living room.]
“Move!”
Zayden’s fingers spun the paring knife effortlessly, the blade glinting as it whipped past Cassian’s cheek with calculated ease.[]
“This is a private residence. If you insist on breaking in, you deal with the consequences.“]
That sharp blade finally made Cassian regain some sense.]]
He stepped back, his voice carrying suppressed anger.
“This is my house. You’re the intruder. Who the hell are you?“]
That question hit right where Zayden wanted it to.
His lips curved into a slight smile, his face taking on a pleasant.]
“This is my fiancee’s house.“]]
The words hit Cassian like a slap.
He looked up at the house number on the wall. Then back at the person in front of him, finally realizing he’d seen this guy somewhere before.

So he was the fiancé of Seraphina’s friend?
But this house was definitely under Seraphina’s name. Had she given it to a friend?
Countless thoughts flashed through Cassian’s mind without forming any clear picture. Finally, he decided to cut to the chase.
“Who’s your fiancée?”
Zayden had been waiting for this question.[]
He put away the knife and looked at Cassian sideways.]
His eyes held undisguised smugness and satisfaction.
“She’s…”
“Why are you here?“]
Hearing Seraphina’s voice, both men turned around.]
Zayden immediately dropped his arrogant attitude, like a cat tucking away its claws.[]
“Sera, this guy suddenly broke into our home. Looks shady as hell. Want me to call the cops?”
His hightning fast change of demeanor left Cassian stunned.
But the moment he caught Seraphina’s gaze, he snapped back to reality and called out, “Seral“]
Seraphina hadn’t expected to come out of the shower to find her ex husband and flance in a standoff]
She dried her hair with a towel as she walked to the door, her voice flat.]
What are you doing here? I told you to contact my lawyer if you had any issues.
Just one sentence extinguished the light in Cassian’s eyes!
He visibly sagged His features crumpled with pantr and confusion and his voice carrying a hint of desperation]}}

“Sera, I think there’s been a misunderstanding. Can we just… talk? Please?”
Seraphina frowned slightly.
Instead of answering him, she turned to look at Zayden, her tone softening.
“Weren’t you going to make chicken noodle soup? Go ahead, I’ll come help you when I’m done here.“]]
Zayden’s lips drooped in a dramatic frown.[]
“This guy’s obviously bad news. I’m worried about you…”
But before he could finish his sentence, Seraphina gently pushed him back inside and closed the door behind him.]
Only then did she turn back to face Cassian. Gone was the gentle tone. Her voice snapped cold again.[]
