Chapter 13
The line went dead with a cold beep.
Cassian’s face turned black with anger at Seraphina’s resolute tone,
He clicked on the video, and seeing the noisy bar in the background. Some vague memories surfaced in his mind.[]
The next second, a crystal–clear “I want a divorce” played from the speaker. [
Cassian felt his blood freeze.]
He stared at himself in the video–sitting on the couch, casually taking a phone call.
Watching himself nod and answer with an “mm–hmm,” then sign his name on the agreement without a care, his whole body trembled.[]
The brief ten–second video–he only watched it once, but those buried memories immediately came flooding back.
So that day, what Seraphina had asked him to sign wasn’t a real estate contract, but divorce papers?
And he–distracted by Delilah’s little tantrum, too busy playing house–hadn’t heard a word Seraphina said or paid attention to what he was signing!
sb Seraphina hadn’t lied. This agreement was something he’d signed with his own hand while sober.
The darkness in Cassian’s eyes was replaced by panic and helplessness.
He shot up, grabbed the agreement. and ran downstairs.
He jumped in the car and sped straight toward the Vale estate.
All he could see was the moment he signed that paper and Seraphina’s last words before hanging up echoed in his

He finally realized he’d really fucked up this time.[]
After playing the field for over a decade, Cassian felt the terror of losing something important for the first time.
He wasn’t just losing a game. He was losing her.]
And that thought shattered something in him.[]
But when he finally got to the Vales‘ house, her family told him the worst thing he could hear:[]
“She’s not here.“]
That one sentence sent Cassian’s last glimmer of hope plummeting into the abyss.]
He called Seraphina again, sent messages asking where she was–everything went unanswered.]
Cassian refused to accept it.]
He drove like a madman, searching every place that had ever meant anything to them-[]
The beach house she bought after their first big fight.]
The cafe where they had their first date.
Her favorite gallery.
Their old place uptown.
Every friend’s house he could think of.
After running around all day, he came up empty handed.
And he hadn’t slept in over thirty hours. His body was crashing, but his brain refused to shut down. []
He could only keep downing coffee, trying to focus his attention []
Just as he was about to snap. Delilah called.[]
Cassian, why arent you answering my messages? If you keep doing this.

Chapter 13
Hearing her whiny and pitiful voice, Cassian had no patience left for playing games. He hung up immediately.
Right then, his assistant walked in and nearly jumped at his outburst. His report came out much quieter.]
“M–Mr. Blake, we checked the traffic cameras. Mrs. Blake appears to have gone to Los Angeles.”
Los Angeles?
Only then did Cassian remember that Seraphina had a house in LA that she’d bought before their marriage.
Cassian didn’t wait. He dropped his phone and rushed toward LA without stopping.
His assistant picked up the discarded phone, trying to keep up, just as another call came in.]
Delilah. Again.
She remembered what he’d told her before: “Keep an eye on Delilah. Handle her shit. Make sure she feels important.“]
So she hesitated–then hit answer.
“Hello, Miss Brooks. Mr. Blake is dealing with something right now. Yes, he went to LA. When will he be back? I’m not sure…”
