Chapter 11
In the early morning hours, Delilah’s fever finally broke.
After Cassian coaxed her to sleep, he got up and went to the balcony.[]
He rubbed his tired eyes and pulled out his phone to send Seraphina two messages.
“Sera, I have some stuff to handle tonight. I’ll come see you tomorrow.“[]
*How are you feeling? Any discomfort? Should I send a doctor over to check on you?“[]
Normally, Seraphina would’ve replied in seconds, but tonight there was nothing.
Cassian waited a few minutes without getting a response. Figuring she was asleep, he decided not to bother her anymore.]]
He slowly sat down, catching up on some work messages, then opened Instagram.]
Among a bunch of vacation and party posts, there were several proposal videos from the same angle.
They were shared by some of Seraphina’s friends. His eyes narrowed and he couldn’t help but click on one.[]
The video started focused on the guy proposing.
The camera panned toward the man proposing. Cassian felt familiar with it, like he’d seen him somewhere before.[]
He shrugged it off and was about to exit when the camera shifted, capturing the woman’s back.[]
One glance, and his breath caught.
Seraphina?
No.
He straightened in his seat, bringing the phone closer. It couldn’t be.
He shook his head, trying to clear it.|[]
They were still married. She was still wearing her wedding ring. How could she possibly accept someone else’s proposal?
Probably just some friend he’d never met.]
Cassian successfully convinced himself with this reasoning, then exited the video and hit like.[]
The next second, coughing came from the hospital room. He lost all interest in resting and went back inside to take care of Delilah.
All night, Delilah kept waking up and falling back asleep.}}
Cassian didn’t sleep a wink, watching over her the whole time, afraid her fever would spike again.[]
When morning came, Cassian was exhausted. He called his assistant to take over and went home to rest.
The moment he entered the house, he sensed something different–a coldness that hadn’t been there before.
He couldn’t quite place it.]
Looking around carefully, he realized the usually cluttered house seemed much emptier.[]
All the figurines from three or four display cases had vanished, the fancy dishes from the dining cabinet were gone, the throw pillows and stuffed animals from the couch had disappeared…]
He walked through the house, his frown deepening with each step.
When he reached the bedroom and pushed open the door, meaning to ask Seraphina what was going on, the scene inside stopped him cold.
Compared to the half–empty living room, the bedroom was even more barel
In the walk in closet, only his few wardrobes still had clothes. The vanity area and jewelry room were completely cleaned out. Every cabinet and table in the master bedroom had been stripped hare:!]
Only then did Cassian finally realize something was seriously wrong!]
Where was everything?[]
Where was she?!

Chapter 11
Was she playing that angry tantrum Tm moving out game again?]
Thinking this, Cassian felt a surge of inexplicable anger.
He’d told her so many times that it was just fooling around. Why couldn’t she just deal with it?]
Looks like all that tolerance and understanding from the past few days was just an act for his benefit.]
Cassian stormed down the stairs, rage boiling over. He called the housekeeper over, his tone terrible.]
“My wife moved out and you didn’t tell me? Where did she go?”
The housekeeper started explaining nervously.
“Uh, well, sir… you said last time that no matter how much Mrs. Blake acted up, we should just let her be and not bother you with these annoying matters. So we didn’t report it. This time Mrs. Blake had the Vale family drivers come pick her up. She probably… probably went back to her parents‘ house.“]
