Victor Lane’s voice cut through the tense room.”
“Bring him in.”
Two bodyguards dragged in a barely conscious man and threw him like a rag doll onto the floor in front of us. He lifted his eyes and secretly locked gazes with me.
“Mrs. Lane, Miss Jacqueline… please save me…“}
Jacqueline’s eyes darted around as she quickly covered her nose. “Who is that? It smells awful.“}
But Victor’s gaze fixed sharply on me. “Don’t you recognize him, Jacqueline? This is the very man you helped pick out to drug me.“}
A smirk played on my lips.
Mrs. Lane vehemently denied, “What drugging? I don’t know anything.”
Jacqueline shook her head innocently.
Victor nodded slowly, “Alright, you don’t know anything, but I know Jacqueline’s secret.“}
My body stiffened for a moment.
Of course. Jacqueline hated me so much for this secret that she would gladly kill me.§
Jacqueline’s face paled and she forced a flattering smile. “I’ve never hidden any secrets from Victor.”}
“The only thing I’ve ever kept from you is my unwavering love for him.“}
Her voice cracked with fake emotion, on the verge of tears.}
Suddenly, she snapped back to reality.
“Victor, did Julia say bad things about me?”
She bit her lip, tears glistening as she looked at me. “Sis, I know you’ve always been jealous of me. You even tried to kill me before, but now you’re married!“}
“Could it be that James isn’t treating you well?“Ð
She covered her mouth, as if she’d just uncovered a huge secret.}
I watched her lie coldly.
Jacqueline becarne even more aggressive, trying to grab my hand.
Victor pulled her away sharply. “Don’t touch her.“}
Jacqueline thought Victor meant herself and smiled slyly. “Don’t blame her, it was me…”>
She was cut off.
“I’m talking about you, Jacqueline. Don’t touch Julia.” Victor’s eyes turned ice cold.
Jacqueline froze on the spot.
Victor stepped behind me protectively and signaled the guards.
A pair of adorable blonde–haired twins were led in by a man with striking blue eyes.>> They timidly looked around.
When they saw Jacqueline, their eyes widened and they suddenly tried to run toward her.
“Mommy! Mommy!”
Jacqueline’s eyes bulged as she screamed, “I am not your mother! Don’t call me that!“}
She shoved the blonde twins away. “Get lost. I don’t know you.”
The twins‘ tear–filled faces looked exactly like Jacqueline’s usual pitiful act.
The blonde man spoke halting English, “Jacqueline, how can you do this? These are our children!“}
Jacqueline was nearly mad with rage. She dropped to her knees at Victor’s feet. “Victor, it’s not like that! Let me explain!“}
She tried to grab his leg, but Victor kicked her away.
Jacqueline bit her lip and glared at me.”
“Was it you? Did you tell Victor? Just like my dead father, you deserve to die!“}]
“Slap!”
I raised my hand and slapped her across the face. “If you’ve got the guts, say that again.“}
“Say whatever you want! I heard your father died, serves you right–ah!“}
I slapped her again and Jacqueline’s face swelled badly.
The twins tried to protect their “mom.“}
“Bad woman, don’t hit mommy!“}
Jacqueline pushed the children aside without care and knelt again before Victor, tears streaming down her face. “Victor, the man and I, this was an accident. I was drugged. I had no choice!“}
“My love has always been for you.“}
Victor took several deep breaths, then turned to me. “Julia, I’m sorry.“}
