Chapter 10%
I was already trying to figure out how I was going to lie my way out of this once the test results came back.
Just then, Rocco came down the stairs, dressed in loungewear.&
I glanced up at him, but he didn’t even look at me. He just walked right past and stood on the other side of the living room.
“Doctor, what’s the result? Is Susie really pregnant?” Renzo asked, sounding tense.
“Let me see,” the doctor replied, picking up the report and adjusting his glasses.
I swallowed hard as I waited. I could feel my hands clammy with sweat.
“Yes. She is indeed pregnant,” the doctor confirmed.
I jerked my head up, staring at him in shock.
“That’s amazing news!” Renzo broke into a relieved smile and personally walked the doctor to the door.”
The room went quiet. Now it was just me and Rocco.N
I glanced at him suspiciously. He just shrugged, picked up his glass of water, and calmly walked back upstairs.
Time flew by, and before I knew it, it was my wedding day.N
The hotel was packed–socialites, CEOs, every big name the media could name. Outside looked like a luxury car show from all over the U.S. Reporters with massive cameras were camped out, ready to capture the perfect moment the ceremony started.
The music started. It was time for the bride’s grand entrance.N
I didn’t show up, but I had eyes there.
A few awkward beats passed, and then–all the lights cut out. A second later, the massive screen lit up.
Everyone turned to look.
The footage playing on it made the whole room go dead silent.
It was the groom. In bed. With another woman–clearly not me.
Their voices echoed through the speakers.
“If Susie finds out you set up your brother to sleep with her, and that the baby in her belly is actually his… she’ll never forgive you.“}]
“She’s never gonna find out!“}
In an instant, gasps and murmurs spread like wildfire.
“Wait, what? The baby’s Rocco’s?!”
“Renzo set his own brother up? That’s insane!“}
“Jesus… Couldn’t compete, so he resorted to dirty tricks? What a piece of–“>
The entire hall exploded with murmurs. Eyes everywhere.}
Grandpa, who had cleared his schedule just to attend his grandson’s wedding, looked completely furious.
“You little bastard!” he snapped.§
Then came a loud smack a slap across Renzo’s face that echoed through the room.
“You really thought you could fool me? You think I’m too old and blind to see through this crap, huh?!“}
“No, Grandpa, it’s not like that-“}
Renzo reached for him, grabbing at his sleeve.”
But the old man shook him off, his face hard as stone.
Completely humiliated, he turned and stormed out, flanked by bodyguards.
Before he left, Rocco stepped forward with a wine glass in hand. “Don’t worry, Grandpa. I’ll handle it.“” Grandpa gave him a look, nodded slightly, and walked off without another word.
As soon as he was gone, Renzo lost it. He grabbed Rocco by the collar.
“Where’s Susie? What did you do to her? Are you two in this together?!“}
Rocco shoved him back, gripped his shoulder, and dragged him into the lounge behind the hall.
The reporters rushed forward, but bodyguards immediately formed a wall and blocked them out.
Inside the lounge, Rocco didn’t waste time–he slammed his fist into Renzo’s stomach.
“That’s for what you did to Susie last time.””
Then came another punch. And another until Renzo dropped to the floor, groaning, arms wrapped around his stomach.§
Ciara came running in, panicked, and dropped to her knees to help him up.”
But her parents came storming in right after her and yanked her away.
“Are you out of your mind?!” her mom snapped. “We raised you better than this! If you want to date someone, at least pick someone decent! You really had to throw yourself at a guy who doesn’t even want you?!“}
Meanwhile, Renzo struggled to his feet. He stared at his twin like he was seeing him for the first time.
“You’ve been into my girlfriend this whole time, haven’t you?“>
