Chapter 7:
“Because of you, Nadine. If you accuse me of bullying, show me the evidence!” I shot back, my words biting like a cold wind
At that moment, several younger members, who had been holding their phones, gasped in shock. They dropped their phones, their faces drained of color. On the screens, a photo of Nadine from earlier was now plastered everywhere.
The truth was out in the open.
Francis’s second uncle, his hand clutching his chest, turned an unhealthy shade of pale. He struggled to speak, his voice shaking with rage.X
“Who did this?” he demanded, his face flushed with fury.R
I couldn’t help but sneer at Nadine, who had been so smug just moments before.
“Of course, it was your dear granddaughter–in–law who did it” I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm.
Nadine’s smug look vanished instantly, replaced by panic. Before she could say anything. Francis’s face twisted in anger, and he kicked her to the ground
“Our Prescotts value their honor above all else,” he snarled, voice icy with rage. “And you do something like this? I can’t protect you anymore.”
Nadine’s eyes went wide with foar as Francis’s wrath hit her. “Francis, no… I’m sorry! I won’t do it again!!
Francis ignored her and stated, “Nadine has committed a serious offense. She deserves a hundred lashes, il see to it myself.”
Nadine’s face went pale. The thought of a hundred lashes–each one leaving its mark–made her tremble. She realized too late that leaving evidence was her biggest mistake
- Before she could beg for mercy, she was strapped to a bench, helpless and trapped.
As Francis raised the whip, Nadine’s scream ripped through the air, her face soaked with tears.
“Please, no! I’m pregnant with your child, Francial” she pleaded in desperation.
