Chapter 101
After all, just the day before, I’d asked for a divorce–using Arlenel’s identity, of course. Stella’s pregnancy had become the final nail in the coffin, a perfect plece of evidence to seal his infidelity.
Eager to cut ties and leap into his “fresh start,” Zack handed me a generous settlement to make things move faster. Which meant, of course, he was now short on cash!
Desperate, he turned to Stella, hoping to patch the hole in his plan. “Stella, I did all of this for you,” he pleaded. “Once I land this deal, we’ll get married right away, Look, I even divorced Arlene. That should tell you how serious I am about us.“?
“Don’t worry, Stella,” Zack said smoothly. “As soon as the money comes in, we’ll get married. I promise “W
Stella looked at him uncertainty. Just weeks ago, he was adamant about not getting a divorce. And yet here he was now, full of vows and sweet nothings again.
She chose to believe him again. “Zack, you have to remember to pay me back, okay? This is really important” she told him softly, looking straight into his eyes to get the fact across to him.
“Relax! Stella, it’s just one week. That’s all I need,” he reassured her, squeezing her hand in his.
She reminded him over and over. That money wasn’t even hers, it was the final payment she owed the store manager for merchandise orders
One week, she told herself she could shift things around for only that long. With a child growing inside her, she had no choice–she had to take the gamble. Truth be told, when she saw how effortlessly Arlene walked away from the marriage, something inside her began to
waver.!
Was this really the happiness she wanted? Was Zack truly someone she could trust with her future?%
It didn’t take long for Stella to get her answer.
The first time Zack’s phone went unanswered, no calls, no texts panic crept in. For the first time, she was genuinely afraid. It wasn’t just Stella who was panicking Zack, too, was beginning to feel the pressure.
Diya had promised him that this round’s return would be even bigger. All he had to do was wait a few more days. But Diya had vanished. No number. No trace. Nothing.&
Meanwhile, I glanced at the sudden spike in my account balance and couldn’t help but laugh, Diya never existed. She was a persona created, played and discarded like a mask.
Just as the panic started to set in, Stella finally found Zack.
“Zack, you promised me one week!” Stella cried, her voice cracking. “If I can’t pay that money back, I could go to jail! Do you understand?” “Get out of my way!” Zack snapped, not even trying to hide his imitation.
He wanted nothing more than to distance himself from her. Too many eyes in the company were starting to turn his way. And that kind of attention was dangerous. She reached out, trying to stop him but Zack who was already frustrated and cornered, shove her aside without thinking.
Stella stumbled, then fell hard to the ground. A sharp gasp rippled through the crowd followed by screams. A dark red pool began to spread beneath her
“Zack… that was your child.”
A life was at stake everyone around them panicked, rushing to get Stella to the hospital. But it was too late. The baby couldn’t be saved. And neither could Zack’s,career. He lost his job, swallowed up by the scandal that evolves around him.
! you?“!!
Later, when I visited the hospital, Stella stared at me, her eyes hollow, as she said weekly, “You’re here to watch me fall apart, aren’t y She looked broken. Like she already knew it was over. Her life, her plans, all of it, gone!!
I said nothing. Just stared at her calmly, then dropped a large bag of cash on the bed.
“You. You were right,” I said softly, a faint smile playing at the comers of my lips. “You’re still young.” I looked at her not with scorn, but with something dangerously close to pity.X
“You don’t hate me?” she asked, voice barely a whisper!!
“Why would I hate you?” I replied calmly.
Then, I handed her my phone open to the chat logs from the Sneaky Affairs Club group. Her hands trembled as she scrolled through the
“This..” she gasped eyes wide in disbelief. She had never imagined that the man who once whispered promises into her ear–Zack, her Zack could be that kind of man.”
“Our real enemies,” I said quietly Fare men like them–shameless and entitled.”
As Velissare’s top saleswoman, Stella had connections–real ones.”
Many of the men in the Sneaky Affairs Club were classic social climbers–men who had married into wealth, or were kept by rich women. They wanted everything, gave nothing and felt entitled to more.!!
Ironically. Stella’s job gave her direct access to exactly these kinds of men.
After reclaiming my succubus identity, I returned to my clan. With the clan’s protection behind Stella, no one dared lay a finger on her. Naturally, all that rage and fallout needed somewhere to go–And it landed squarely on Zack.
It didn’t take long before I saw him again, slumped on the street, disheveled and broken. He looked up at me, dazed and hollow.!!
9:19 AM
“Arlene?” he whispered.
