Chapter 8

“I understand, Miss Brown. And I’ll issue the disownment announcement within the company immediately.”

I nodded, then added,

“Oh, and Uncle Green? Since Alaric and Secretary Amy are so deeply in love, don’t interfere anymore. Let them be a pair of ‘doomed lovers’ together.”

Love without money crumbles like sand. After Alaric loses his status as Young Master Green, I wondered how long their romance would last.

The bag was finally returned to me. Escorted by Uncle Tom, I headed home.

My father flew back overnight.

When he saw the wound on my face, he nearly stormed off to kill Alaric and Amy on the spot.

I grabbed his arm, pleading gently,

“Dad, how many times have I told you? Stop being so violent all the time.”

“I’ve already taken revenge. Leave this matter to me.”

He growled,

“I’ll let anything slide except this! You’re the apple of my eye. I’ve never even raised my voice to you since birth! They dared to hit and curse you? I’ll skin them alive!”

I scowled deliberately.

“Killing them now would be too quick. You know I prefer slow, agonizing revenge.”

“Alaric Green went from a pampered CEO to a despised outcast overnight. That identity crisis will eat him alive.”

“He’ll blame Amy for everything. Watching them tear each other apart will be far more satisfying!”

Seeing my stern expression, Dad finally relented.

“Fine, do as you wish. But you must listen to me on one thing-”

“From now on, you’ll take the bodyguards I arranged everywhere. This can’t happen again, or how will I face your late mother in the afterlife?”

Early in his gangster days, Dad had made many enemies. My mother died in a brake failure accident when I was less than a year old.

She’d shielded me with her body in the crash, taking all the impact so I could survive.

Mom was the love of Dad’s life.

After her death, he never remarried, raising me alone as both father and mother, doting on me like a precious jewel.

He lived in constant fear of failing to protect me, terrified of facing Mom in the afterlife.

Thinking of her, I hugged Dad tightly.”I promise that I’ll always stay safe from now on.”

Reports of Alaric and Amy’s downfall reached me regularly.

Evicted from the company and penniless, they moved into the cheapest basement apartment, struggling to afford three meals a day.

Alaric, spoiled his whole life, gave up after two failed job interviews and let Amy support him.

She worked double shifts to feed him, initially believing Bob Green would eventually take his son back.

Just endure this hardship, she told herself. The title of Young Madam Green will still be mine.

But three months of backbreaking labor revealed no sign of reconciliation.

Chapter 8

She learned Bob Green had a secret son whom he’d immediately groomed as heir after disowning Alaric.

Realizing he was now worthless, Amy abandoned him for a 60-year-old tycoon.

Alaric confronted her furiously.

“You heartless bitch! I’m ruined because of you, and now you dare leave me?”

She snapped.

“I seduced you because you were Green Group’s CEO, a ticket to luxury. Now you’re just dead weight! Why should I support you?”

In their final clash, he accidentally pushed her off the second floor, killing her. He was sentenced to life for manslaughter.

When I heard the news, I ordered all updates about Alaric to stop.

His miserable prison life no longer concerned me.
