Chapter 7
Battered and bruised, Alaric didn’t even bother wiping away his tears before sniveling,
“Dad, this bitch hit me! Humiliated me in public! Make her pay-I want her family destroyed-”
His rant was cut short by Bob’s slap.
“You monster! Kneel and apologize to Miss Brown! Now!”
He staggered from the blow, then roared in disbelief,
“Dad, have you lost your mind? She hit me, and instead of backing me up, you’re forcing me to kneel and apologize?”
Bob kicked his son’s knee, driving him to the ground. He bowed deeply, cringing with forced humility as he turned to me.
“Miss Brown, this is all my failure in parenting. Please forgive this fool’s recklessness.”
I patted his shoulder lightly.
“Uncle Green, do you remember how Dad pulled you up from a nobody, step by step, to where you are now?”
He bobbed his head like a servant.
“Never forget! The Brown’s kindness saved my life. I’ll never repay it all!”
Watching this spectacle, Alaric finally grasped the truth that he’d messed with someone far beyond his league. Desperate, he stammered,
“Dad, who… who is she?”
Bob smacked his son’s head again.
“You idiot! You just cursed and attacked the daughter of the Brown Group’s patriarch!”
Alaric’s voice trembled.”B-Brown Group? The Brown’s heiress?”
Though the Brown had disbanded publicly years ago, insiders knew the truth that they’d simply retreated into the shadows. Every major corporation in New york bore their investments, including STARWIN GROUP’s largest stakeholder, the Brown Group itself.
“I begged for this blind dateopportunity for you!” Bob spat.
“And you spat on it, insulting and stricking Young Miss! You’re lucky to be alive right now!”
Alaric’s defiance crumbled. He turned to me, terror etched into his face.
“I didn’t know! Please, Miss Brown, forgive my ignorance!”
I sneered, not deigning to look at him.
“You’re not apologizing because you’re remorseful. You’re begging because you finally know who I am.”
“If it were an ordinary person here today, would they just have to suffer your bullying in silence?”
The onlookers erupted in agreement.
“Exactly! He’s just a bully who picks on the weak and fears the strong. There’s no genuine remorse in him at all.”
“Look how arrogant they were earlier, acting like little emperors! Now they’ve finally met someone they can’t push around!”
“Miss Brown, don’t let them off! Teach him a lesson he’ll never forget making sure he never dares abuse his power again!”
As the crowd’s demands for punishment grew louder, Bob panicked, fearing I might actually listen. He pleaded urgently,
“Miss Brown, this brat deserves whatever he gets!
I’ll discipline him severely when we get home-please spare him this once, for my sake!”
I crossed my arms, my voice icy.
“Tve never been cursed at to my face, let alone struck, in my entire life. If I let this slide, I’d never swallow my pride.”
Bob’s face fell. He knew there was no turning back. Taking a deep breath, he asked,
“Then… how does Miss Brown wish to punish them?”
My gaze swept over Alaric and Amy before settling on a verdict.
“Since they love abusing power so much, strip them of it entirely. Exile him from your family-cut all ties, forever.”
Alaric recoiled in horror. Accustomed to luxury, he couldn’t fathom living as an ordinary man.
“Dad! I’m your only son! Who’ll inherit the family business if you disown me?”
Bob hesitated, torn between fear and filial duty.
I spoke in a frigid tone,
“He can only inherit the family business if there’s a family business left to inherit. Uncle Green, my father will arrive soon, given his temper, do you think your son will even get a proper burial?”
