Chapter 3
Not only did I think he was beneath me, but I planned to tattle on him to Uncle Green and make sure that idiot got punished.
Tired of wasting time on these two, I turned to leave.
But Amy snatched the handbag I’d just bought right out of my hands.
“You can leave, but only if you hand over that bag, bitch!”
Oh, so now she was outright robbing me?
I grabbed Amy’s arm and squeezed hard.
She let out a yelp of pain, her grip loosening, and the bag fell back into
my
hands.
“I only discard things I don’t want. No one’s ever managed to hijack from me!”
Amy’s eyes brimmed with tears as she looked at Alaric.
“President Green, this vile woman humiliated me so badly… You have to avenge me…”
I backhanded her across the face with a sharp slap.”
If I hear that word vile one more time, I’ll rip your mouth to shreds!”
Some people never learn without a good lesson.
Dazed by the blow, Amy retreated behind Alaric, tears gushing like a broken faucet.
He pulled her protectively into his arms, glaring at me with fury.
“You dare lay a hand on my people? I’ll make you regret this today!”
He turned to his bodyguards behind him and barked,
“Take her down! Subdue this madwoman!”
Though I was skilled in combat, I couldn’t fight off multiple attackers at once.
Soon, Alaric’s bodyguards had me pinned down.
”
Emboldened by her protector, Amy stepped forward and slapped me twice across the face.
My cheeks burned with swelling, and a trickle of blood seeped from the corner of my mouth.
She cracked her wrist, sneering,
“Bitch! You slapped me once? I’ll make you pay a hundredfold!”
The onlookers around us shot me sympathetic glances.
“A hundred slaps? Her face will be ruined beyond recognition.”
“What a shame! Such a pretty girl turned into a monster.”
“We warned her not to provoke Secretary Amy. She brought this on herself.”
Knowing when to pick my battles, I feared Amy’s insanity might actually disfigure me.
Desperate, I blurted out, “Fine! Take the bag! It’s yours!”
She slapped me across the face again, her voice dripping with venom.
“You’re truly a worthless slut. A mere handbag won’t quench my fury now!”
I endured the searing pain in my cheek and said,
“I’ll pay whatever amount you want, just let me go!”
Amy grinned, greed glinting in her eyes.
“Fine! A hundred million dollars, and I’ll spare you today!”
I replied without hesitation, “Deal. I’ll have the money delivered immediately!”
Alaric scoffed beside her.
“You’re a terrible liar. In New York, only a handful of people could pull a hundred million in cash.
Who do you think you’re fooling?”
I bit back my anger.
“Ten minutes. If the money doesn’t arrive by then, do whatever you want with me.”
“Deal. Ten minutes it is!”
Amy grabbed her phone to time me, then announced to the crowd,
“Everyone heard her! If she can’t come up with a hundred million in ten minutes, I’ll strip her naked and let you all have your fun!”
Amid the crowd’s jeers, I finally got my phone back and frantically dialed my father’s number.
“Honey, how’d the blind date go? Are you satisfied?”
Hearing my father’s voice, my eyes welled with tears.
“Dad… someone hit me…”
“What?! Who dares lay a hand on my daughter? They won’t live to see tomorrow!”
I quickly summarized what had just happened.
“Dad, she said if I can’t deliver a hundred million in ten minutes, she’ll disfigure me and throw me naked into the street!”
My father’s fury crackled through the phone line.
“How dare they! Shirley, just hold tight-I’m sending people over right away!”
After hanging up, the knot in my chest finally loosened. Once Dad’s men arrived, I’d be safe.
Amy watched the countdown on her phone, her gaze mocking as the seconds ticked away.
When only ten remained, she sneered,
“Time’s almost up. Be smart and strip yourself.”
No sooner had the words left her mouth than a convoy of dozens of trucks roared to a stop outside the mall entrance.
The lead driver jumped out and bellowed,”One hundred million dollars in cash-delivered!”
