My stepmom sighed. “She doesn’t have a
mother. She doesn’t know what’s important. Our company is about to sign a deal with the Williams family. It’ll be embarrassing if she
ruins it.”
“She can’t even control her husband! It’s all
her fault!”
The butler stood next to me, wanting to say
something, but I told him not to.
I left without another word.
I understood that the day my dad sent me to
Blake’s bed, I lost my home.
I walked into a coffee shop and sat in the
corner.
Tears ran down my face as my dad called me
again, his voice full of anger.
“You came back? Why didn’t you tell me?” “Why are you back? Did you and your
husband fight again? I already told you: you wanted to sleep with him. He’s already good for marrying you! What else do you want?” My father wasn’t guilty. He immediately
started yelling at me for coming home.
I choked back my tears. “Didn’t you drug me and send me to Blake’s bed? When did I force
myself on him?”
My dad was quiet for a moment, then said,
“You liked Blake! That’s why I did it! Don’t act
like you didn’t want it!”
“If I didn’t do that, would you have your life
now? Be smart and apologize to your
husband. Stop fighting with him about some
woman…”
I didn’t have the energy to listen to ‘my dad. I
hung up and stared ahead.
I liked Blake for six years and never crossed the line. I never forced myself on him.
But my stepmom read my diary and told my
dad that Blake was my high school and college classmate.
To save his company, my dad tricked Blake into meeting with him.
After that, I was labeled as manipulative, scheming, and desperate.
I didn’t want to live with those lies anymore. [The deal must happen next month. If you don’t make things right with Blake, you’re never getting your mother’s body!]
I was so angry I started shaking.
When my mom was pushed off a cliff, she fell
into the lake below. I never had the money to
get a search team.
Three months ago, my dad finally said he
would pay for the search, but he never sent
anyone. Now, he was using it against me.
<
I took a few deep breaths and said, “Okay,
but you have to give me my mom in seven days.”
I texted Blake. He didn’t answer but showed a
message that he was typing.
I handed a hot coffee and looked up at the
young man.
He smiled and wrote his number on the cup.
I looked away and waited for Blake to
respond, but he didn’t.
I didn’t care and called him.
He answered. “Tsk, did you call me right after
I finished with Jenny?
“Snow, will you always follow me around like
a lost puppy?”
My pride wanted me to hang up, but I
couldn’t afford it.
I knew Blake wanted me to beg him, so I said,
“Come home. I need to talk to you.”
Blake scoffed. “What do you want? Do you
L
want me to break up with Jenny? If it’s not
her, then it’ll be Amy or Ashley. I can’t have fun with you, but you can’t stop me from finding it somewhere else, can you?”
I didn’t understand why a husband could talk
about cheating so openly.
He didn’t get an answer. Blake coldly said, “Are you crying again? Do you think I’m still moved by your tears?”
“I’m annoyed by them. I don’t feel anything
else.”
“Tell me what you want. I don’t have time to
come home.”
I could hear a woman moan on the other end
of the phone.
I was heartbroken.
I explained to Blake that I wasn’t responsible
for the story being leaked to the press and
that I would give a press conference to set
the record straight.
V
Blake pulled me closer. He said he wanted to
marry me.
His blue eyes looked at me for a moment and I thought it was love.
I thought that this marriage was meant to be.
But Blake shattered my illusion after the wedding.
He tore down my pride and hated me.
“Your family is failing, so you tried to blackmail me.”
“You pretended to set the record straight, but wanted more! I hate manipulative women! I could never love you!”
I explained it a thousand times. Blake thought
I planned everything.
I was numb and couldn’t say anything.
I bit my tongue and woke up from the
nightmare. “Will you sign my dad’s deal
soon?”
Blake paused and his face darkened.
L
I could hear him breathing.
He always thought that I was after his money
and hated me for taking it. He must have
misunderstood something.
I couldn’t explain. I repeated it again. Blake took out a cigarette. “Okay, but you need to deliver some condoms to the
penthouse suite in the Grand Hotel. Once I’m
done with Jenny, I’ll sign the deal for your dad.”
Something broke inside of me.
But I also felt relieved.
I didn’t know how I agreed, but I was already
at the door.
I could hear noises.
I knocked, but no one answered.
I heard Jenny say, “Should I take my birth
control?”
Blake laughed. “If you get pregnant, we’ll just
keep it.”
<
Blake finally opened the door.
He scanned my body.
“Looks like your parents talked to you. You’re
not crying after listening to us, so that’s
good. Keep it up.”
I nodded. “An open marriage is a good idea. I shouldn’t have stopped you from having fun.” He smirked. “Should have realized that
sooner.”
He called the vice president in front of me and told him to sign the deal with my dad. I gave him the box and walked away. Blake watched me walk away and scoffed. Three days later, my dad told me that my
mom’s body was found. They were about to pull it out.
He laughed. “You helped me get the deal, so I helped you find your mom. You need to be
obedient. Stop acting out.”
I said “okay” and started driving to keep an
<
eye on things.
I opened the door and saw Jenny holding a
bunch of roses.
She smiled. “Mrs. Williams, the boss said this
is your reward. There’s a limited edition Ferrari on the way. Are you leaving?”
I’m allergic to pollen. When I smelled the roses, I had trouble breathing.
