Chapter 10%
“Did I… misunderstand Luna?“>
Niana approached with a plate of fruit, leaning into Gerry’s side.
“Gerry, what are you looking at?“}
Her eyes fell on the surveillance footage playing on his phone. In an instant, her face went stiff.} Meeting Gerry’s darkening gaze, she opened her mouth but couldn’t form a single coherent word. “Gerry, I…”
Tears welled up and streamed down her cheeks.
“I was just… afraid you loved her more. I don’t have status. All I have are these twins in my belly… I’m sorry. I was foolish.”
In the past, whenever Niana cried, Gerry’s heart would soften.}
Even though I had suffered more, Niana’s tears always made him feel like the whole world owed her something.”
But now–he felt nothing but irritation, regret and shame.
How had he ever believed I was the pitiful one?}
How could I have been so blind?}
The doorbell rang. He brushed past Niana without a word and opened the door.”
“Hello, delivery.“}
He took the package with a puzzled frown, opened it and was immediately struck by the gold–embossed red envelope inside. A wedding invitation.
Groom: Darren Sigmund
Bride: Luna Sigmund
The blood drained from his face.
The invitation slipped from his hands and fluttered to the ground.
He noticed I had changed my surname.
I was really marrying Darren.
I had cast aside the Stall Family name.”
Cast aside him.
I had chosen freedom: Darren.
On the day of the wedding, Gerry showed up uninvited.
In the makeup room, he blocked my path, eyes bloodshot and filled with desperation.”
“You can’t marry him!“}
I looked at him, stunned by his sudden intrusion.}
His voice softened. “Luna. Don’t do this. Don’t marry him. I’m your fiancé–I should be the groom.”
I chuckled quietly and brushed his hand away from the door.
“That’s no longer true. Have you forgotten?“>
I met his gaze head–on, my tone calm and deliberate.}
“The Stali Family’s old mansion. That bowl of medicine. The choice I made.“}]
“Gerry, what I said on the phone that night was real–our wedding didn’t need to be rescheduled because it was never going to happen. And as for the old mansion… I chose to walk away.“}
“I stopped wanting to marry you a long time ago.“}
Each word landed like a blow. His lips turned pale. “Luna..“%
He wanted to ask me why.
But how could he still not know??
It had always been him.
Him, who wanted everything but gave nothing.”
Him, who never truly listened to me.
Him, who ignored my pain, my boundaries, my love.
He was the one who ruined it all.
“Give me another chance. Please.”
His voice cracked–hoarse and low, almost unrecognizable.
He had never sounded so humble before.
frowned, unmoved.
10.31 AM
*After the wedding, just leave. Niana is still pregnant, isn’t she? She’s waiting for you.”
At the mention of her name, a flicker of irritation crossed his face.
“I’ve already had her taken for an abortion.”
I froze.
He looked away, his jaw tight and slowly began to speak.
“I spent all night investigating. The first child Niana was carrying… wasn’t mine. It belonged to some man she was seeing while studying out of town.”
“That guy didn’t want to take responsibility. So she used the pregnancy to trap me.”
“She never loved me. She loved my family’s wealth. She wasn’t even sent away by my mother like she claimed–she asked my mother for money and left on her own.“&
“And that phone call she made that night…”
He scoffed bitterly.
“It was just a setup. She wanted me to hate you. Wanted me to throw you out–so she could take your place.“>
