Chapter 10
“Serena, I turned you into this monster.” Oliver’s voice trembled with guilt.
“I carry the weight of the entire bloodline on my shoulders. I’m sorry.”
He summoned every ounce of his power, then closed his eyes in anguish, prepared to execute me with his own hands.
But just then, the forbidden doors creaked open.
Several ancient guardians‘ vampires who had long been devoted to the worship of the Ancestor’s statue stepped out, and, with a flick of their fingers, dissolved every single attack that had been aimed at me.§
Their voices echoed through the hall, sharp as lightning.”
“Serena is a direct descendant of the Ancestor. Her bloodline is purer than even Oliver’s. All of your powers originate from the Ancestor’s blood. How dare you raise your hands against her?”
A stunned silence fell over the room.
And then every noble knelt, lowering their heads to me in trembling reverence.}
But I merely lifted a hand and pointed toward one of them.§
“I can see your ability. Extract Laura’s memories. Let Oliver see exactly what she’s done.“}]
The truth came out. Scene after scene of manipulation, cruelty and betrayal played out before everyone.”
When Oliver saw the depths of her schemes, a deadly fury ignited in his eyes. He turned toward Laura with killing intent.
She dropped to her knees, sobbing as she clung to his leg.
“Your Majesty, I followed you willingly! You know how deeply I love you! I turned my back on my own parents the top vampire hunters for you!”
“I was wrong to scheme against Serena. I only did it because I loved you too much, because I couldn’t stand to see you care for another woman!”
Her sobs had barely ended when the vampire who had pulled her memories stepped forward with a cold scoff.”
“Your Majesty, she did follow you willingly. But not out of love.”}
“Laura is terminally ill. She came here to beg for your embrace not because of devotion, but because she wanted immortality. She wanted to become a high–level vampire and steal part of your supernatural power.”>
Oliver’s last thread of restraint snapped.§
Before Laura could speak again, his hand closed around her throat.
And in the next moment, he ended her.
Her ashes scattered to the cold castle floor.
Then, with bloodshot eyes and shaking hands, Oliver walked toward me. “Serena, you must still remember the love we once shared. It was Laura who blinded me. I’m the one who wronged you.“}
“Please, just give me one more chance. Let’s start over. We can begin again.“>
I looked at him, oh this face once so beautiful I used to fall for him every timè I saw it.
But now? Now it only stirred contempt.
My lips curled into a cold smirk.
With a single wave of my hand, I summoned the full might of the Ancestor’s aura, forcing Oliver to kneel before me in solemn reverence.
And then I said three words, words that shattered his delusion beyond repair.
“You’re not worthy.”
